Surprising Reactions to Diet Change
Dec 27th
Almost daily I receive letters from folks across America and sometimes around the world who write to tell how their health has improved through The Hallelujah Diet and these Health Tips. Thank you for writing; I read every one! Please keep those letters coming, as they greatly encourage and inspire me as well as those who read them.
“Rev. Malkmus, I had to go to my doctor today for a complete physical required by my insurance company for continued coverage. I have been on The Hallelujah Diet since May 2010. I adopted it after hearing you speak at the Mackinaw Island Retreat which was such a blessing to both me and my husband.
As a result of the diet and lifestyle change I have been feeling wonderful and have lost 30 pounds in six months. I am very excited to get my blood work results back and see how things are going in my body.
After I shared with my doctor about my new diet and lifestyle changes she expressed concern about my getting enough protein.I had to explain to her that I get all the protein my body needs from my avocados, seeds, nuts, and beans.
Then she was concerned that I wasn’t getting enough iron and I thought: ‘are you kidding me?’ And then I responded: ‘if I am eating all those green veggies, should not my iron levels be good?’ There was no comment from the doctor.
I just wanted to share this with you, because this was my first encounter with a doctor since being on The Hallelujah Diet and I was truly surprised at the ignorance of a doctor in the medical field concerning nutrition. Thank you once again for this wonderful knowledge you have given me.”
Barbara C., Michigan
“Dear George, I must confess that The Hallelujah Diet has changed my life after being on it for just two weeks. I pray God will continue to bless you and use you to help multitudes around the world restore their health.”
Chidi J., Nigeria, Africa
“I just wanted to say ‘Thank You’, Brother George for all the wonderful articles included in your weekly Health Tips. We appreciate you and Rhonda and everyone at Hallelujah Acres for all the hard work you do that benefits so many.”
Cindy W.
“After finding out that I have colon cancer I previewed your website and have come up with enough info to get me started on reclaiming my health. I thank you!”
Ed L.
“I have been hypothyroid for over 30 years. Since adopting The Hallelujah Diet three months ago my thyroid levels have increased dramatically. My doctor has had to reduce my medication dose by 1/3 and I was wondering if this is a normal response to The Hallelujah Diet?”
Dolores
EDITOR RESPONDS – A number of people have reported thyroid function normalizing after adopting The Hallelujah Diet and a need to drastically reduce or eliminate medication.
It’s 2011 – Time To Try Something New!
Dec 27th
On January 1, 2011 we all will begin a “NEW” Year. In the book of Revelation, it talks about a coming day when Jesus will proclaim: “Behold, I make all things NEW.” (Revelation 21:5)
As we begin this New Year, I want to challenge each of us to consider some “new” things that could be helpful to both our physical and spiritual well-being.
The Bible often cautions us with regards to the choices before us. For instance the apostle John admonishes us in the Bible, in 1 John 4:1…
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but TRY the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
I WAS RAISED ON RELIGION
As a boy, not by my choice, I was raised on religion. Mother and Dad sent me to, what I later learned was not a Bible believing church, but rather a very liberal church that proclaimed a social gospel rather than the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In that church I attended Sunday School faithfully, even earned perfect attendance pins.
I was baptized and became a member of that church. This church had two pulpits with a cross and candles separating the two pulpits. In one pulpit the pastor read from the Bible (usually a Psalm) and from the second pulpit, leaving the Bible behind in the first pulpit, he preached his sermon (usually on social issues).
Sadly, I did not have enough knowledge of the Bible and its teachings at that time to know enough to “TRY the spirits whether they are of God.” As I look back on that childhood experience, I realize that a “false prophet” was in the pulpit and pastor of the church.
THEN I TRIED SOMETHING “NEW”
In the spring of 1957, while working in New York City, I learned not only that Billy Graham was in town, but that tens of thousands were flocking to hear him nightly in Madison Square Garden.
Curiosity got the best of me. On May 29, 1957 I decided to find out what all the commotion was about. That night I heard Billy Graham proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The “Gospel of Jesus Christ” tells of His death, burial, and resurrection. (I Corinthians 15:1-4)
As I listened to Billy Graham speak, I realized I was a sinner (Romans 3:23), and that my religious experiences in that church in which I had been raised were not sufficient to take away my sins and make me fit for heaven (Isaiah 64:6). That was something only Jesus could do (Romans 10:9-10).
When Billy Graham gave the invitation to receive Jesus as Saviour (John 1:12), I was one of the hundreds that went forward, and there kneeling on a concrete floor beside a steel folding chair, I asked Jesus to come into my heart, forgive me for my sin, and receive me as a son. (Romans 10:13)
Jesus says in Revelation 3:20:
“Behold, I stand at the [heart's] door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come into him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” (See also I John 5:11-13)
I’m so glad that over 50 years ago, in spite of all my previous religious indoctrination, I was willing to try something “new.”
I WAS RAISED ON THE STANDARD AMERICAN DIET (SAD)
I was raised (again, not by choice) eating things that were not in my health’s best interest. I was raised on the Standard American Diet (SAD), a diet of meat and dairy at most every meal, lots of sugary desserts, and almost everything I ate was cooked.
Shortly after graduating from High School in 1952, Uncle Sam sent me greetings that my services were required in the U.S. Army to go fight in the Korean War. Having joined the Naval Reserve in High School, I applied for active duty in the U. S. Navy.
After boot camp I served on a ship for several years. On that ship, once again without any input from me or knowledge of what was healthy for me to eat, I was served and ate the same SAD diet I had been raised on.
After an honorable discharge from the U. S. Navy in July 1955 I married and guess what I ate? Yes, it was the same SAD diet I had been raised on and eaten during my upbringing and Navy days. As a result, physical problems that began to manifest as a child continued to manifest with increasing frequency and intensity.
Pimple outbreaks became more intense and frequent, tooth decay resulted in my spending ever increasing hours in dentist chairs, eyesight deteriorated to the extent I required glasses, hypoglycemia manifested, elevated blood pressure surfaced, and the final blow – in late 1975 was told I had colon cancer.
Not wanting to go the traditional medical route my mother had gone for her colon cancer diagnosis before me, I went looking for an alternative. Why? Because Mother’s experience going the medical route was disastrous and led to an early death!
At mother’s death, I was convinced she hadn’t died as a result of the cancer, but rather as a result of the modalities doctors had used in treating her cancer.
THEN I TRIED SOMETHING “NEW”
Rather than go the medical route, I turned to an Evangelist in Texas named Lester Roloff. He discouraged me from going the medical route and encouraged me to change what I ate.
Yes, he said that if I wanted to get well I needed to stop eating the diet of meat and dairy that had caused my cancer. I had to stop eating that sugar that had destroyed my immune system. I needed to eat the raw garden foods God told Adam to eat in Genesis 1:29 and drink lots of freshly extracted vegetable juices.
Because I was willing to try something “new” my rectal bleeding soon stopped. Within a year, my baseball sized tumor in my colon started to shrink and then disappear — I was well!
Friends, because I was willing to try something new 36 years ago, I am still alive and well, just three years shy of my 80th birthday.
ARE YOU WILLING TO TRY SOMETHING “NEW”?
In both the spiritual and physical realms, there are false prophets trying to lead us in directions contrary to the direction God would have us to go — directions contrary to our best interests. When someone listens to that false prophet they can be led away from both God and health.
How can we know whether a spirit is of God? We can “try the spirit”:
“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this WORD [the Bible], it is because there is no light in them.” (Isaiah 8:20)
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy WORD is truth.” (John 17:17) Jesus said: “And ye shall know the TRUTH, and the TRUTH shall make you free.” (John 8:32)
Friends, there are many voices beckoning us to TRY various things. There are many directions we can travel in both the spiritual and physical realms that are destructive.
Many people have gotten into trouble by trying something “new,” something they should never have tried in the first place. For instance, that first cigarette… first drink of alcohol… first lie… first theft… first time being unfaithful to a spouse.
As we look back over our lives, most of us can relate. How much better would our lives have been had we not gone in a direction we shouldn’t have?
Though God gave Adam and Eve a 100% raw, plant-based diet in Genesis 1:29, it didn’t take long for the devil to entice Eve to try something “new” (Genesis 3:1-6). She yielded to the temptation of the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil, then gave some to Adam. We all know the result – sin entered the world.
“Wherefore, as by one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned…For as by one man’s [Adam’s] disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one [Jesus] shall many be made righteous…That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 5:12, 19, 21)
OUR ENEMY IS STILL TRYING TO GET US TO TRY SOMETHING “NEW”
Today, our enemy is still trying to get us to try something “NEW” that is detrimental to our health – cigarettes, alcohol, soda pop, candy, sugar desserts, cooked animal flesh and dairy, etc.
What has been the result? Sickness abounds! Most of the prayer requests in our churches are for sickness, while the cost of treating all this sickness is bankrupting not only our own pocketbooks, but our vary nation.
Are you my dear friend willing to try something “NEW” that is good for you? If you are not on The Hallelujah Diet — a diet and lifestyle based on the one God gave Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden some 6,000 years ago — may I encourage you do so. Your health, length of life, and years of service to Jesus may depend on it.
And if you have only religion and not Jesus, may you today accept Him as your personal Lord and Saviour!
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved.” (See Romans 10:9-13)
With Jesus in our hearts and a body fit for the Master’s use, you are in an exciting position as we enter the “NEW” YEAR 2011!
Where We’ve Been & Where We’re Going
Dec 27th
Where We’ve Been…
This year has certainly been a whirlwind – and we can’t wait for 2011!
Rhonda and I started 2010 with a 12-day speaking tour, holding “God’s Way to Ultimate Health” seminars in Tallahassee, Tampa, Ft Myers, Plantation, Kissimmee, and Jacksonville, Florida. This speaking tour was preceded by Hallelujah Acres’ first sponsored cruise to the Caribbean with over 200 guests participating.
In February, I had the opportunity to be guest lecturer at several Health and Nutrition classes at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, North Carolina.
In March, we held Health Minister training, preceded by my 2-Day Workshop. These training sessions were also offered in July and November (our November Health Minister training hosted over 100 trainees). Our 12th annual Health Minister Reunion followed in April. It was a tremendous time of fellowship and rejoicing with numerous outstanding speakers including professional vegan triathlete Brendan Brazier.
In May, Rhonda and I were on the road again, holding seminars in Chillicothe and Dayton, Ohio; Lexington, Kentucky; and Lewisburg, West Virginia. We continued our travels in June, stopping in Pennsylvania on our way to a seminar at our Canadian headquarters in Toronto, and speaking in Buffalo, New York on the way back. We also held a seminar in Taylorsville, North Carolina.
July saw us holding seminars in Algona, Iowa; Independence, Missouri; and Point Lookout (Branson), Missouri. While in Branson we also had the opportunity to appear twice on the Jim Bakker television show. In August we held seminars in New Bern, North Carolina and Spartanburg, South Carolina, and on Mackinaw Island, Michigan.
In September we were on the road again with seminars in Lynchburg, Gloucester, and Richmond, Virginia. In October we hosted a seminar in Greenville, South Carolina and Rhonda held her 10th Annual Women’s Retreat here at Hallelujah Acres with an attendance of over 300!
Of course, in the midst of all this we continued to host our Hallelujah Weekend events on the first weekend of each month, including my “God’s Way to Ultimate Health” seminar and “An Evening with Rhonda Malkmus” culinary classes. Incidentally, Rhonda had a record crowd of 61 at her November class!
Somehow Rhonda and I also managed to grow a marvelous garden this year at our new home at The Villages of Hallelujah Acres – the nation’s first healthy lifestyle community! We also planted 47 blueberry bushes, 3 fig trees, 5 thornless blackberry bushes, and 5 scuppernong grape vines.
Where We’re Going…
Rhonda and I are looking forward to what the Lord has in store for us in 2011. On February 12, 2011 I will celebrate my 77th birthday. We rejoice to report that due to our healthy diet and lifestyle, we remain in excellent health with no physical or mental limitations!
However, we have decided that it might be time to slow the pace and take a little time to smell the roses. I have already outlived both my mom and my dad by some 12 years and I am nearing the age of outliving the oldest in my family tree.
After our scheduled January 2011 Florida tour with seminar stops in Valdosta, Georgia; and Gainesville, Bradenton, Sunrise, Altamont Springs, and Jacksonville, Florida we have decided to forgo any additional long-distance seminars that keep us from home for weeks at a time.
We will, however, continue to do deliver our first-Saturday-of-the-month seminars here at Hallelujah Acres. We will also continue to deliver seminars that are within a reasonable driving distance from our home at The Villages. I will also continue to write this weekly Hallelujah Health Tip.
We appreciate your prayers and pray that we will be listening intently for the Lord’s leading and guidance for whatever He has in store for our remaining years.
This following Bible verse expresses our wish for each of you — our faithful Health Tip subscribers — as we enter the New Year 2011:
“Beloved, I [we] wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (3 John 1:2)
