Cancer, Prayer, and Disease Insurance
Oct 20th
I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate your letters — even those that challenge me with questions!
But the ones that thrill me the most are those that report improvements in their health after making the diet changes promoted in these Health Tips.
Please keep them coming as I have said so many times before they make my day!
“Hello Dr. Malkmus, I am Linda, a registered nurse in Asheville, North Carolina and one of your Health Ministers. I attended your October 1 First Saturday Seminar accompanied by friends we had brought for their first visit to Hallelujah Acres.
At the seminar I spoke with you regarding my fantastic past year on The Hallelujah Diet and how I was now cancer free after refusing chemotherapy and other medical modalities.
We have just learned that our pastor has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He is only in his 40s. Our church is booming in outreach and size and our pastor’s progress through this valley in his life will be watched by many.
Please ask your Health Tip followers to pray for him, as he is truly a man of God.”
Health Minister Linda S., RN, Asheville, North Carolina
“Dear George, I read your article regarding ‘Is Health Insurance a Good Investment.’ I wish that article could be placed in every newspaper in the land where millions of people could read it. You hit the nail on the head.
Why should we pay good money to buy health insurance that pays for doctors to slice us open and poison us more after the very reason we are sick is because we poisoned ourselves with the Standard American Diet? God bless you and your (God’s) ministry.”

“Rev. Malkmus, Just wanted to make sure that you are aware that there are Christian alternatives to traditional health insurance.
It is the Christian sharing model used by Samaritan Ministries and several other groups which operate similarly to traditional Health Insurance.
They are less expensive because they restrict membership to believing Christians who agree not to smoke or indulge in alcohol, or participate in other disease-producing behaviors.
These policies still amount to what you rightly call ‘disease’ insurance, but at least are not participating in traditional health insurance which forces believers to subsidize procedures which are against their faith, such as abortion.”

“To our most beloved Brother George. My warmest greetings from Uganda. I just wanted to thank you so much for all that you are doing to educate Christians about how to maintain our God given temples of the Holy Spirit so that they are fit vessels to serve our God.
Indeed, staying away from the ‘world’s diet’ which makes us sick, and adopting the Genesis 1:29 diet along with lots of juicing will make us healthy and keep sickness away.
It is sad that neither the world nor the medical people teach the truth as you do Dr. Malkmus. I have been so blessed by your teaching. Thank you so much.”

How The World’s Way Destroys Our Health
Oct 18th
Over the past month we have dealt with some very provocative subjects in these weekly Health Tips. Surprisingly, I received not a single negative response, but rather an avalanche of positive ones expressing agreement with what I had written. You can read them in the past four Health Tips.
In this Health Tip I want to take up the subject of “How The World’s Way Destroys Our Health.” Sadly, most Christians are trying to restore their health the “world’s way” and it hasn’t been producing very good results in spite of the huge sums of money spent, how good the doctors involved, or how excellent the health insurance policy coverage.
In addition, Christians have also turned to God in prayer. Sadly, prayer has all too often failed to improve the outcome either, evidenced by how often after prayer the person continues to get sicker and then goes on to die.
How Most Physical Problems Are Dealt With
How does the average Christian deal with their physical problems today? The first thing that happens is that the person gets sick. Next, do they not ask God through prayer to remove that physical problem and heal them? They will often request others pray for them as well.
On the average prayer meeting night, what kinds of prayers dominate? Are they not prayers asking God to heal the sick? And are not the same people often prayed for week after week without healing taking place?
After prayer has failed to remove the physical problem, what does the average Christian do next?
In most instances they go to the doctor (if they have not already done so). Then they ask God to give the doctor wisdom to know what drug to give them in order to bring about the healing.
Did the drugs the doctor prescribed remove the problem or did the drugs simply cover the symptom? (Not to mention, they were probably told that they must remain on the drug or the symptom would return.)
These drugs are very toxic to the body and often produce additional symptoms that require additional drugs. Once drugging begins it usually begins a vicious downhill cycle of ever increasing need for medical attention.
After both prayers and modern medicine have failed to bring about healing and that person dies, how do Christians explain the death? Sadly, and all too often, they say: “It must have been God’s will.”
Have you ever considered that it might not have been “God’s will?” Might there be another reason why going to the doctor failed and prayer failed to restore them to health? Could it be as Hosea 4:6 states:
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou has rejected knowledge.”
Let’s Take A Look At The World’s Way
So often I hear Christians say, “though we are in the world, we should not be of the world.” In other words we should not follow the ways of the world — yet that is exactly what most Christians do when it comes to what they eat and drink (the world’s diet), and how they deal with the physical problems they experience as a result.
Let’s bring some verses of scripture into play here. Perhaps we can determine why we are experiencing unprecedented sickness among God’s people and attending a steady and increasing number of funerals for ever younger and younger people.
What Is God’s Will For His People?
There is only one source where we can learn “God’s Will for His People” and that source is God’s book, the Bible, the very Word of God.
1. Be in health: The Bible clearly states that it is God’s will that His people be as well in their physically bodies as they are in their spiritual souls: “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” (3 John 2)
Do we not see some of the most spiritual people in our churches getting sick, then sicker and sicker, and then dying in spite of all the prayers we offer and all the best doctors can do? Should not the most spiritual among us have the best health? Yet they don’t! How can we scripturally explain this?
2. Be not deceived – The Bible clearly tells us that (no matter how spiritual we are) what we sow (in this case what we eat and drink) we are going to reap: “Be not deceived, God is not mocked: for whasoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)
Have you ever considered that what a person “soweth” (eats and drinks) could be the cause of the physical problems? Compare what God told mankind to eat in Genesis 1:29 with what man is eating today. The Genesis 1:29 diet consists of 100% garden foods: fruits, vegetables, seeds, and nuts.
I contend that most of the physical problems man is experiencing today are caused by failing to eat the foods God designed our physical bodies to be nourished with. Rather we are eating non-garden and refined foods such as meat, dairy, refined sugar and flour, all of which are loaded with toxic substances. I call this the “world’s diet.”
In addition, we are allowing extremely toxic substances to be injected into our bodies in the form of vaccinations, which compromise our immune systems which God placed in our bodies to protect us.
In addition, we are placing pharmaceutical drugs into our bodies that further compromise the immune system. Drugs are extremely toxic to the body.
3. Do not be lacking in knowledge – In Hosea 4:6 we read “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Sadly, what most Christians eat and how they deal with physical problems is dealt with the “world’s way” rather than “God’s way.”
Rather than eating what God told them to eat in Genesis 1:29, they eat the “world’s diet.” Then, when they get sick, instead of praying for knowledge as to what they need to do to get well, they pray for God to heal them. Asking God to heal them absolves them of any responsibility or participation in their healing.
The most important thing a sick person needs is “knowledge” that can lead them to the resolution of their physical problem. Knowledge is power! Ignorance is not “bliss” — ignorance is dangerous when it comes to dealing with physical problems.
4. Recognize that sickness has a cause – Does God not say in Proverbs 26:2 that “The curse causeless shall not come?” Here we learn that the “curse” of sickness, “shall not come” without a “cause.”
Sadly in today’s society we do not deal with “causes” but rather with symptoms. For instance, if a person never entertained the “cause” of high blood pressure, stroke, heart attack, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, asthma, acid stomach, heartburn, colds, the flue, etc., the person would never have experienced the problem. Eliminate the “cause” and you eliminate the problem.
5. Be acceptable unto God – God places the responsibility for the health of our bodies squarely on each of us individually in Romans 12:1: “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
Do we ever consider whether what we eat and drink is “acceptable unto God”? Can we in good conscious ask God to bless some of the things we are placing (or allowing other to place) into our body?
Revelation 18:23 warns us of the dangers associated with drugs when placed into our glorious God-created bodies, but we do it anyway. We should make it a rule in our life that everything we place into our body is “acceptable unto God!”
6. Be not conformed to this world – And just what is necessary in order to enable us to “Present out bodies a living sacrifice, acceptable unto God”? The following verse answers that question:
“And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable will of God.”
We get sick because we have “conformed to this world” in how we nourish our physical bodies and then get sicker because we go to doctors who give us drugs that make the problem worse, or who in their attempts to prevent disease through vaccinations or mitigate disease with drugs, cause additional disease.
Did you know: “Every day, 5,400 hospitalized patients are injured by medications, and 2,400 others are sent to ER rooms for adverse reactions to appropriately used prescriptions? All told, prescription drugs are the third leading cause of death in America.
Did you know: “By age six, our children are required to receive 15 different vaccinations, in 52 doses, most of them for diseases that are no longer a threat in the US? Vaccinations are toxic brews of biological and chemical agents that are clearly linked to skyrocketing cases of autism, which have increased from 1 in 2,500 30 years ago too 1 in 91 today.’’
(Source: Dr. Julian Whitaker in “Health & Healing” August 2011, Vol. 21, No 8.)
Did you know: God warned us of the consequences of going the medical route in book of Mark 5:24-25 over 2,000 years ago:
“And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, and had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse.”
There is an old saying that goes like this: Too soon old and too late smart.
Isn’t it about time we Christians stopped dabbling in the world’s way and started turned back to doing things God’s way?
7. I will conclude our discussion about what God has to say about dealing with our physical problems the world’s way with the following scriptures:
Choose life – “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing, therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)
Ye are the temple of God – “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” (I Corinthians 3:16-17)
Wisdom of this world is foolishness with God – “Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.” (I Corinthians 3:19a)
What’s Wrong With The World’s Diet
Next week, Lord willing and if the creeks don’t rise too high, we will begin taking a close look at the “world’s diet”, often referred to as the Standard American Diet (SAD), and see how it contributes to our physical problems.
My goal over the next several Health Tips is to compare the SAD diet with the GOD diet (God’s Original Diet.) I believe you will find the comparison most interesting.
Hope you will join us for this analysis and explanation as to why the health of Christians is no better than the health of non-Christians — despite all the prayers we offer for healing!

Nutritional Deficiencies In A Vegan Diet
Oct 15th
“Rev. Malkmus, I am interested in optimal health by following a vegan diet. However, I am concerned about studies that show an increased risk of hardening of the arteries and blood clots from this type of diet. I am also concerned about the lack of omega 3’s, B vitamins, zinc, and iron in a vegan diet. I would appreciate your response to these concerns. Thank you!”

Editor Responds
Dear Linad,
The Hallelujah Diet is much more than just a “vegan” diet. Rather it is a well-balanced, plant-based diet, providing the optimal raw to cooked ratio, (85% raw to 15% cooked) plant foods, along with fresh vegetable juices, and green smoothies to insure optimal nutrient intake.
We also assure that there is no lack of critical nutrients by recommending supplementation in the form of omega 3’s, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, and iodine. We have been fine tuning The Hallelujah Diet for 20 years while millions around the world have found The Hallelujah Diet not only restored their health but also prevented future health issues, while revealing no nutritional deficiencies.
Regarding some of the statements made in your letter, I would really appreciate your sharing with me the source of the research revealing a vegan diet increases the risk of hardening of the arteries and blood clots. Both of these problems are primarily caused by a diet high in animal source foods – both flesh and dairy.
Plaque is produced by the animal fat found in animal products being joined by the minerals found in cooked animal foods and ground water. For instance, high amounts of iron are found in beef. A person on a vegan diet, because they consume no animal source foods, does not have the fat necessary to cause hardening of the arteries. Quite simply, if a person does not consume animal source foods and does drink distilled water, they do not have the means to create plaque.
As for the risk of blood clots, one of the primary causes of blood clots is plaque deposits (which we discussed above), forming along the lining of the artery, and growing to cause narrowing of the vessel. If plaque ruptures, a blood clot can form at the site of the rupture and can completely or partially occlude the blood flow at that point. This is what causes a heart attacks, stroke, or peripheral artery disease. It would be difficult to find a pure vegan experiencing such a condition.
Regarding “lack of omega 3’s” – in most instances, neither a vegan diet nor animal source diet provide sufficient omega 3’s unless a person consumes a lot of fish, but that can be a dangerous source due to the high amounts of mercury found in fish. Hallelujah Acres recommends walnuts, ground flax seed or flax oil as a good source of omega 3’s. However, our research reveals that the very best source of omega 3 to be Pharmax fish oil. It contains high amounts of omega 3s as well as high DHA and EPA, both essential nutrients. We chose Pharmax fish oil because it is the cleanest oil we have found and completely free of mercury.
And finally regarding the “B vitamins, zinc, and iron”:
- B vitamins – there are eight B vitamins and most are available from a plant-based diet. They are B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin) B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), B7 (biotin), B9 (folic acid), and B12. Hallelujah Acres recommends B12 in sublingual form that also contains B6 and folic acid (B9) to prevent deficiencies. Interestingly, consuming animal source foods does not guarantee sufficient intake of B12 as the Framingham Study revealed – 39% of those on an animal-based diet were deficient in B12.
- Zinc – Zinc is found in chickpeas, beans, almonds, and cashews are plant sources that provide the body with zinc.
- Iron – Iron can be found in apricots, sesame seeds, figs, kidney beans, and spinach along with other dark leafy vegetables, which are very iron-rich foods.
There are two types of iron – non-heme iron; the kind found in spinach and has an absorption rate of 10% to 20%. While heme iron, the kind found in meats, is highly absorbed. The highly absorbed heme form of iron found in meats can be a source of concern as it often results in iron levels that are too high. Because of too much iron, some people have to have blood lettings on a regular basis in order to reduce the percentage of iron in their blood.
Iron toxicity, also called hemochromatosis, can be caused by having too much iron in the bloodstream. So although iron is an essential nutrient, excess can cause significant harm to the inner lining of the blood vessels. Excessive iron is also associated with heart attacks. The abundance of dark green leafy vegetables on The Hallelujah Diet should provide most individuals adequate iron without being excessive.
