Jan 5th
On January 7, 2010, Hallelujah Acres will launch a 60 Days to a Hallelujah Waistline, a program to help all who wish to participate obtain a slimmer, healthier waistline. The program will include weekly webinars, daily e-mail tips to inspire and keep you informed, along with many other perks. To learn more about this incredible weight loss program as well as how to register to participate in the program, visit 60 Days to a Hallelujah Waistline.
With over 60% of America’s population overweight and obesity rapidly becoming an epidemic among not only adults, but also our youth, I believe it is high time Americans learned about a weight loss program that achieves better results, faster, and at less cost than any other available today. The name of this weigh loss program is The Hallelujah Acres Diet and Lifestyle! And this Diet originated with God!
HOW SERIOUS IS THIS EXPANDED WAIST LINE PROBLEM
With over 60% of the American population overweight, that means that over 180 million Americans are carrying at least 10 pounds more than they should be carrying for their height and bone structure. An estimated 54 million are defined as “clinically obese’, which means that they weigh 20% or more than their recommended ideal weight. A smaller, yet rapidly growing number are considered “morbidly obese” which means that their excess weight is putting such a strain on their body they could die at any moment.
HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE HALLELUJAH DIET IN LOSING WEIGHT
Though we have hundreds of testimonies of folks losing 50 pounds or more after adopting The Hallelujah Diet and Lifestyle, I will share just a few of those testimonies below, and then if you desire, you can go to Weight Loss Testimonials and read many more.
CLENT LOSES 206 POUNDS IN TEN MONTHS ON THE HALLELUJAH DIET
As for the kinds of weight loss results others have obtained after adopting The Hallelujah Diet, you might like to learn about Clent M. After adopting The Hallelujah Diet in January 2008, by October 2008, ten months later, Clent had lost 206 pounds. You can read all about Clent’s remarkable weight loss in his own words, as well as see some pictures of him, in our featured testimony of Health Tip #53.
THIRTY-TWO ADULTS LOSE OVER 700 POUNDS IN JUST SIX MONTHS
Several years ago I taught, at my pastor’s request, a 12-lesson course titled Biblical Nutrition 101 over a six-month period in the church I was attending at the time. Thirty-two adults completed the course, and on the final night of the class, those who had completed the course reported a combined weight loss of over 700 pounds during the preceding six months. The course I taught is available as a FREE download.
THE CAUSE OF EXCESS WEIGHT AND OBESITY
Before we proceed any further, I want to bring to our attention a verse from the Bible that bears heavily on this issue of excess weight and obesity. The verse is found in Proverbs 12:2, and reads as follows: “The curse CAUSELESS shall not come.”
As we take a closer look at the subject of excess weight, obesity, and expanded waistlines, we need to realize that the “curse” (excess weight, obesity, and expanding waistlines) will not occur without a “cause.” And in most instances, the “cause” of excess weight and obesity is not in the genes or glandular, but rather in the food choices of the individual who is carrying that excess weight.
Following are the major factors contributing to excess weight:
THE REFINED SUGAR FACTOR
Refined sugar is an addictive drug and the primary cause of weight gain. The average man, woman, and child in America consumes some 172 pounds of refined sugar each and every year. This amount of sugar breaks down to approximately 50 teaspoons of refined sugar being consumed each and every day of the year by every person in America. And this doesn’t even factor in the sugar derived from the refined carbohydrates, which rapidly turns into sugar.
If a person were to consume just one 12 oz. can of soft drink a day for one year, they could increase their weight by 15 pounds. Yet, there are overweight people who consume liter bottles of these soft drinks daily. Refined sugar is extremely high in caloric value. Consider also that sugar is invariably baked or cooked into some high-fat, high salt, irresistibly tempting goodies like ice cream, cakes, cookies, cinnamon buns, etc., ingredients that cause the body to gain even more weight. Because refined sugar is an addictive drug, the person who wants to lose weight, will usually continue to consume it.
The USDA recommends that the average adult, consuming a 2,000-calorie diet, should consume no more than 40 grams of sugar per day from all sources. It might startle the average person to learn that just one teaspoon of refined sugar contains 4 grams of sugar and 16 calories. Thus one 12 oz. soft drink, contains 11 teaspoons of sugar, and the person who consumes that single soft drink places into their body 44 grams of sugar and about 176 calories. In other words, that single soft drink contains more sugar than the USDA recommends for the entire day. If the average person consumes 50 teaspoons of sugar daily from all sources, that person placed into their body 200 grams (5 times USDA recommended limit) of sugar and over 800 calories.
AREN’T ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS AND DIET SODAS A BETTER CHOICE?
Regarding artificial sweeteners – Many believe that artificial sweeteners and diet sodas are a better choice, but not according to Dr. Neal Nedley, who writes in his book Proof Positive (on page 187) the following: “Do the low calorie soft drinks really work? … One study of over 75,000 women ages 50-69 found that users of artificial sweeteners were significantly more likely than non-users to gain weight over time. … We found that hunger increases after drinking aspartame sweetened soda.”
THE REFINED CARBOHYDRATE FACTOR
Refined carbohydrates (such as white flour products and white rice) contribute to making a person fat, just as refined sugars do. Unrefined carbs, such as whole grains, beans, legumes, fruits and vegetables, help keep a person lean. The difference between a refined carb and an unrefined carb is FIBER. In fact, unrefined carbs pack a powerful punch when it comes to fighting fat.
WHY FIBER IS SO IMPORTANT
Scientists at the University Hospital of London, Ontario compared the FIBER intake of different individuals. They found that those individuals who had a healthy weight ate 30% more FIBER than the overweight individuals. The only source of FIBER is plant foods, and because The Hallelujah Diet is extremely high in the use of plant foods, the diet is exceptionally high in FIBER content.
High FIBER foods help people lose weight for several reasons: First, because the food contains FIBER, it requires more chewing time, and thus slows down food intake. Second, FIBER has more bulk, and thus fills the person up with fewer calories. Third, FIBER stabilizes blood sugar levels and stimulates less insulin secretion, which translates into weight loss. And since we can’t digest FIBER, we can’t absorb calories from it.
In his book Carbohydrates from Hell, Carbohydrates from Heaven, author James Krystosik has this to say about FIBER: “Anyone trying to improve their health and lose weight should take advantage of FIBER, one of nature’s best appetite suppressants. Remember FIBER is a non-digestible form of carbohydrate, which passes through the digestive system without ever adding one single calorie. FIBER absorbs water, swells inside the stomach, and creates a sense of fullness. Now your brain gets the message that your hunger has been satisfied. High FIBER foods also satisfy the sensation of hunger longer than refined food, which means you end up eating fewer calories and thus lose weight.”
And let’s not forget that refined grains, in addition to helping make one fat, upsets normal blood sugar levels, causing mental and physical imbalances. When refined starches are eaten, a high percentage of the starch is quickly broken down into simple sugars, hitting the bloodstream and causing alarm to an exhausted pancreas and/or adrenals. In short, this amounts to the same objectionable diabetic/hypoglycemic reactions initiated by refined sugars.
THE ANIMAL FAT FACTOR
The average American consumes a high-fat diet. For instance, the average consumer of animal source foods in America consumes some 100 pounds of animal fat yearly. This becomes important when we recognize that weight gain is often related to getting too many calories from fat rather than getting them from complex carbohydrates as God intended. In the research lab, animals on high fat diets gain more weight than their peers on a low-fat regimen—even when both groups eat the same number of calories.
Animal source foods are the primary source of fat in the average diet. Each of the following foods provides the body with 10 grams of saturated fat: 2 cups of whole milk; 1 double hamburger; 2/3 serving of macaroni & cheese; 1 cup of ice cream; 2 cups of plain yogurt; 2 slices of American processed cheese. (Source: Proof Positive, page 24)
Cheese has the honor of being one of the most fat-laden foods being consumed today! Often, people will consume a salad (which is a healthy food), but then load it up with cheese—a very unhealthy and fattening food! Cheese is one of the most destructive foods one can place into their body!
Fat contains 9 calories per gram. Therefore, each pound of fat (454 grams) contributes 4,086 calories. If the average person consumes 100 pounds of animal fat per year that means that person consumes 408,600 calories per year, or 1,119 calories from animal fat each and every day of the year, which amounts to approximately half of their daily caloric intake.
When we add the 800 calories from refined sugar being consumed by the average person each day, to the average of over 1,000 calories from animal fat being consumed by each person each day, we learn that most of the calories being consumed each day originate in the two most fattening foods one can consume. Is it any wonder the average person in America is overweight?
THE TABLE SALT FACTOR
Table salt, besides being a poison and totally devoid of FIBER, causes the body to retain fluid. In reality, it is not the table salt that retains the water, but rather the body retains the water so that the toxic sodium/chloride concentration is reduced, thus causing less irritation and less caustic concentrations. In other words, the body recognizes the table salt as a poison and acts to protect itself, by diluting the highly irritating crystals.
This retained water adds water weight to the body. When a person stops placing table salt into their body, the body starts releasing the retained water to keep all that toxic sodium/chloride from doing damage. This is why it is not unusual for a person to lose 6, 8, 10, 12 or even more pounds within just a matter of days after adopting The Hallelujah Diet, a diet that eliminates table salt.
EXCESS WEIGHT AND AN EXPANDING WAISTLINE IS A MATTER OF CHOICE
One of the reasons The Hallelujah Diet is the very best weight loss program available in America (actually the world) today, is because it eliminates all four of the above fat-producing, waistline-expanding items found in the Standard American Diet (SAD). Yes, The Hallelujah Diet eliminates the very items responsible for most of the excess weight and obesity plaguing over 60% of our nation’s people.
In place of all these fat-producing items, The Hallelujah Diet provides highly nutritious, complex carbohydrate, healthy, predominantly raw foods that nourish the body. Yes, God knew what He was doing when He gave Adam and Eve that original Genesis 1:29 diet—and it also provides the very best source of nourishment available today.
This editor, soon to be 76-years of age, after 34 years on The Hallelujah Diet, has a flat, rock hard, muscular stomach, a 32” waistline, and weighs in at 142 pounds at 5’9” in height. My wife Rhonda lost 85-pounds her first year after adopting The Hallelujah Diet. Won’t you consider giving The Hallelujah Diet a try by joining thousands of other who will be giving the diet a try for 60 days? To learn more go to 60 Days to a Hallelujah Waistline.

Truth & Knowledge – Keys To A Healthy Body And Mind
Jan 4th
The prophet Hosea had the following to say regarding KNOWLEDGE approximately 2,800 years ago:
“My people are destroyed for lack of KNOWLEDGE: because thou hast rejected KNOWLEDGE . . . .” (Hosea 4:6)
Then some 800 years later Jesus had the following to say regarding KNOWLEDGE:
“And ye shall KNOW the truth and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)
In John 1:14, the Apostle John reveals the source of all TRUTH and KNOWLEDGE?
“And the Word (Jesus Christ) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and TRUTH.”
And in John 14:6, Jesus proclaimed Himself to be the source of all TRUTH when He said to His disciples:
“I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life . . . .” (John 14:6)
And where do we find all this TRUTH and KNOWLEDGE the Bible speaks of? Why, it’s in the very Scriptures found in God’s book the Bible:
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, (Jesus was God manifested in the flesh – See John 1:1-14) and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (II Timothy 3:16 –17)
TRUTH & KNOWLEDGE – KEYS TO A HEALTHY BODY AND MIND
So if the Scriptures are “profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works”, would it not be wise to turn to these Scriptures to not only find the SOURCE OF TRUTH & KNOWLEDGE which contains the KEYS TO A HEALTHY BODY AND MIND?
THE BOOK OF GENESIS CONTAINS THE KEYS TO A HEALTHY BODY AND MIND
The keys to a HEALTHY BODY AND MIND are found in the beginning chapters of the book of Genesis which begins with these words: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1) and is followed by an accounting of the first five days of creation in Genesis 1:2-25.
Then on the sixth day of creation God said:
“Let us make man in our image, after our likeness . . . . So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (Genesis 1:26-27)
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life: and man became a living soul. And the Lord God planted a garden eastward of Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, AND GOOD FOR FOOD . . . “(Genesis 2:7-9)
“And a river went out of Eden to water the garden . . . . And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest FREELY EAT.” (Genesis 2:10-16)
And in Genesis 1:29 God gave instructions for what we have been seeking, how to obtain a HEALTHY BODY AND MIND. And here is what God wrote:
“AND GOD SAID, Behold I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; TO YOU IT SHALL BE FOR MEAT (FOOD).”
MILLIONS, BY ADOPTING THE DIET GOD TOLD ADAM TO CONSUME IN GENESIS 1:29 HAVE OBTAINED A HEALTHY BODY & MIND
Yes, God had it right in the very beginning, when He told Adam that all the nourishment Adam needed to support the physical body God had given Him, was to be found in the foods contained in that Garden in which God had placed him.
And here at Hallelujah Acres, we have found that the Hallelujah Acres version of God’s original Garden Diet, when consumed, has produced for most who adopt it, a Healthy Body & Mind.
Let’s Start The New Year 2010 With A Resolution To Be Healthy
Dec 29th
At the beginning of each New Year, many people make what are called “New Year’s Resolutions.” Why? Because, there are some things in their life they aren’t happy with and they want to change them for the better. Well, have you ever considered making a “New Year’s Resolution” with regards to your health? Resolve to start The Hallelujah Diet, a resolution for life.
Permit me to ask you a question as we enter this New Year 2010: “Are you happy with your state of health?” Let’s think about that for a moment. Do you exude energy, or are you just dragging through life? Is your mind clear and sharp, or has some fog settled in? Are you experiencing some high blood pressure or high cholesterol? Do you experience headaches, suffer with arthritic pain, or have diabetes? Or, or, or, whatever it might be?
Every physical problem we experience has a “cause”
That’s what the Bible tells us in Proverbs 26:2 – “So the curse CAUSLESS shall not come”. And are you aware that by simply eliminating the CAUSE of the physical problem, almost every physical problem you are experiencing can become a thing of the past?
Are you aware that almost every physical problem you are experiencing was CAUSED by something you placed into your mouth in the form of food or drink and/or your failure to exercise your body sufficiently? If you are not happy with your state of health, let me encourage you to consider making a “New Year’s Resolution” to improve your health.
Did you know God wants you to be healthy?
That’s right! God wants’ you to be as healthy in your physical body as you are in your spiritual soul? Yes He does! Listen to what the Bible says about your health in III John 1:2:“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou prosper and be in HEALTH; even as thy soul prospereth.”
That my friend is God’s and my will for you! But in order to “be in health” each person must do their part! God does not shine down health upon some and not others. If a person wants to experience the health God desires for them, that individual must personally become an active participant in creating that health.
This truth is made abundantly clear in Galatians 6:7, where we read: “Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man (or woman) soweth, that shall he (or she) also reap.”
How to live a healthy life
Living a healthy life is not a mystery. Rather, health is simply knowing a few basic truths, and then acting upon those truths. Here’s the first prerequisite for a healthy body: Eat a healthy diet! Tens of thousands have written to tell me that after adopting the Hallelujah Diet, they recovered from over 170 different physical problems and they didn’t get sick any more.
Why does The Hallelujah Diet give such spectacular results? The answer to that question is a simple one. When God designed these physical bodies we each possess, He designed them to run on a certain grade of fuel (food). When we put the proper fuel into our bodies, our bodies run the way God designed them to run, but when we put the wrong fuel in, they do not run properly.
It is that basic and simple! The Bible puts it this way: “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)
The automobile engine is a good example
Most people realize that for an automobile to run the way it was designed to run, it must have the correct octane of fuel, without contaminants, in its fuel tank. Put a low grade fuel in the fuel tank, and it will ping and knock. And we know that if we persist in putting a low octane fuel, or contaminated fuel in the fuel tank, it can result in damage or even destroy the engine.
Well the same is true of our physical bodies. When we experience physical breakdown, it is almost always the body responding to the wrong fuel! That’s right, almost every physical problem we experience, whether it be overweight, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, pimples, asthma, arthritis, cancer, colds, flu, osteoporosis, heart attacks, acid stomach, strokes, headaches, etc., is the result of wrong fuel.
When we stop putting the wrong fuel (bad food and drink) into our bodies and start putting in the right fuel (good food and drink), the fuel God designed these bodies to run on, the body will almost always automatically and quite quickly correct the physical problem or problems being experienced, and start functioning the way God designed.
What is proper fuel for the human physical body?
God told us what fuel He designed these physical bodies to run on in Genesis 1:29: “And God said, Behold I have given you every herb bearing seed (vegetable), which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat (food).”
Some years ago a man wrote to tell me that after being on The Hallelujah Diet for only six months, he had lost sixty pounds in weight and twenty-eight different physical problems had disappeared from his body. Recently, a Nigerian pastor wrote to tell me he had recovered from over 30 different physical problems after adopting the Hallelujah Diet.
Our experience here at Hallelujah Acres has shown that within six months or less, after a person adopts The Hallelujah Diet, a diet patterned after God’s Genesis 1:29 diet, more than ninety percent of all physical and even emotional problems are gone.
EDITOR’S NOTE: If you are making a New Year’s Resolution to improve your health, and if you will write me a short note telling me of that Resolution, Rhonda and I will include you in our nightly bedside prayers. Please leave your request for prayer as a comment or you can send it by using the “Send George A Note” section at the bottom of the right-column.
The Hallelujah Diet, A Resolution For Life
Dec 28th
What is The Hallelujah Diet?
Well, really, The Hallelujah Diet is not a diet at all, but a LIFESTYLE. Typically, a diet is something a person does for a period of time to obtain a desired effect, and when that desired effect has been achieved, the person reverts back to the old ways.
Following this approach, a person may experience improvement on a particular diet, but when they go back to the old ways of eating, the old problems usually return and sometimes with a vengeance. On the other hand, a lifestyle change is something we do for the rest of our lives, and that is really what The Hallelujah Diet is all about.
The Hallelujah Diet is the culmination of over thirty-years of personal research, personal experiences, and listening to the testimonies of tens of thousands of others who have shared with me what worked and what didn’t work for them.
Through the years, I have had but one guiding light that kept me on the straight and narrow, and against which I weighed every modality – and what was that guiding light? It was the very diet God gave Adam in Genesis 1:29.
This diet consisted solely of all the raw fruits and raw vegetables, seeds and nuts, found in that Garden in which God placed that first created being – Adam! This original diet contained no animal products, no refined foods, or chemical additives. So Genesis 1:29 became the foundation upon which I judged everything I was learning. If it fit the teachings of Genesis 1:29, I took heed to what was being said; if it didn’t, I cast it aside.
In the beginning, I practiced and taught all raw food, but later learned that this was too difficult for most people, and caused accumulated toxins to exit the body too rapidly. I also found that most people are so addicted to cooked food that totally giving it up was more than they could emotionally handle, and caused many people to throw in the towel.
Why cooked food was added to The Hallelujah Diet
To overcome this, some cooked food was added to The Hallelujah Diet, at the end of the evening meal, and this became a little reward for being good (eating raw) the rest of the day. And we found that even with this small amount of cooked food (15%), people were able to get the same or even better results than with the 100% raw food diet.
This little bit of cooked food at the end of the evening meal made the diet more do-able for the masses. And besides, there are some benefits to cooked foods. Some nutrients, such as lycopene in tomatoes, a powerful antioxidant, are more bioavailable when cooked.
There are other things built into The Hallelujah Diet that are extremely important. Every component has its reason for being there, and leaving out any one thing will usually reduce the effectiveness of the program.
For instance, it is almost impossible to get enough nutrients to the cellular level of the body by simply eating raw fruits and vegetables, along with seeds and nuts, because we lose over 65% of the nutrients in the digestive process. So on The Hallelujah Diet, we concentrate nutrients in the form of raw vegetable juices and BarleyMax.
By removing the fiber before putting the food into the body (as we do when we juice), we minimize the digestion needed. Thus, these concentrated nutrients can go more rapidly to cellular level without nutrient loss or energy drain. When we juice, over 90% of the nutrients reach cellular level, compared to less than 35% reaching cellular level when we send the whole food through the digestive tract.
We also found that the diet was very low in vitamin B-12 and healthy fats, and so we added a sublingual vitamin B-12 supplement and Omega 3 fatty acid. And recently we realized most people were deficient in Vitamin D3, and so that was added.
How to begin The Hallelujah Diet
There are two ways to begin: ‘cold turkey’ or make slow changes over a period of time. ‘Cold turkey’ has proven to be the easiest and most effective way for the majority of people who have gone on our program. When a person goes on The Hallelujah Diet ‘cold turkey’, there is anywhere from a few days to a few weeks of potential detoxification — maybe experiencing a mild headache, some nausea, fatigue, pimple outbreak, diarrhea, etc., as stored toxins exit the body.
However, the majority of people who use the “cold turkey” approach (over 60%) do not even realize they are going through this detoxification process. Thus, and usually quite quickly, the person is on the other side, already experiencing increased energy and physical improvement. These rapid improvements become motivation to stay with the program.
Making slow changes is usually more traumatic, because each time we put into our body an addictive food (sugar, animal product, table salt, white flour product, caffeine, etc.), the body craves more of that addictive substance. This can cause a yo-yo effect, and people often become discouraged because they are trying to improve but not experiencing desired results.
So as we start the New Year 2010, I trust many of you will join Rhonda and me on The Hallelujah Diet.
Warmest Christmas Greetings
Dec 22nd
At this very special time of the year when we all bow our heads to the one who came in such a non-assuming way by way of a manger in the form of an innocent baby, let us all remember how that new life that was breathed into this man changed the world.
His very life was all that we needed to be saved from all of the sin and corruption this world holds. Unfortunately, He had to breathe His last breath for us to gain that salvation He wants for us all.
Enjoy this moment with Him. Enjoy this week with your friends and your family. Time can be our most precious possession but it can slip away so quickly you never even noticed. Give your loved ones a big hug and let them know how much they mean to you.
This is the time when all hurts, all offenses, all is forgiven.
The miracles of Christmas abound and we want to keep them coming every day. Friends, we can! All we need to do is praise the one who creates those miracles! All He wants is you.
Rhonda and I give Him thanks for the wonderful gifts He has given us in the form of each of you. Your attentiveness and your prayers have been such a treasure and know that you are always in our prayers as well.
May you each be blessed with the peace and joy of the season so you can spread it to each of your loved ones so the gatherings will feel so much more special and the time will feel as if it stood still, if only but a moment.
We look forward to greeting you in the New Year.

Why Hallelujah Acres Will Be Celebrating Christmas This Year
Dec 21st
As you approach the double glass doors at the entrance to Hallelujah Acres, you will find above the doors the words, “NOW THEN WE ARE AMBASSADORS FOR CHRIST. . . .” (2 Corinthians 5:20)
Many think of Hallelujah Acres as a Business. Rhonda and I think of Hallelujah Acres as a ministry. And though there is a business aspect of Hallelujah Acres that business aspect exists solely to provide the finances necessary to pay staff salaries and to support the ministry.
I believe God has blessed Hallelujah Acres so abundantly through the years because it is a ministry that has put God first. That reminds me of the following:
Others lord, yes others,
May this my motto be,
Help me to live for others,
That I might live for thee.
I believe that if we were to ever turn this order around, and put ourselves or the business first, God would remove His blessing from Hallelujah Acres.
Through the years, I have on occasion had someone say to me: “If you would just remove the Christian emphasis from Hallelujah Acres and your writings, you could reach a lot more people and sell a lot more books.” But my retort has always been the same: “I believe that if we were ever to do that, God would remove his blessing, and Hallelujah Acres would slowly fade away.
Listen to what the Bible has to say concerning Hallelujah Acres and this Christian emphasis:
“Except the Lord build the house (or business), they labour in vain that build it.” (Psalm 127:1)
And again:
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:11)
Each year here at Hallelujah Acres we hold a Christmas party for our staff, and every year at that Christmas party since we began Hallelujah Acres, I have read the Christmas story as found in Matthew chapter one, and commented on the true meaning of Christmas, while encouraging staff to keep Christ in Christmas. If you or we were to ever remove Christ from Christmas, all we have left is a “mass.”
During recent years, it has become the custom for many businesses during the Christmas Season to say to their patrons “Happy Holidays”. Well, I want you to know that here at Hallelujah Acres you will not hear “Happy Holidays” coming from Rhonda, this editor or staff, but rather “Merry Christmas” or “Have a Blessed Christmas.”
Why Hallelujah Acres Will Be Celebrating Christmas This Year
If you look at many of the businesses around us during this Christmas season, you will find that Christ has been removed from Christmas and has been replaced with “Happy Holidays”, and with Santa Clause’s gift giving and revelry. But that is not what Christmas should be about. Sadly, many of the people seem to have forgotten the reason for the season.
Well not here at Hallelujah Acres. In fact, at our annual staff Christmas celebration here at Hallelujah Acres this past Saturday, when the staff gathered together for some vegan refreshments, gift exchange, and fellowship, we began our Christmas Celebration with a brief message given by Rev. Malkmus (that’s me), founder of Hallelujah Acres, titled “Why Hallelujah Acres Will Be Celebrating Christmas This Year.” Following are a few of the Scriptures and thoughts I shared:
Luke 2:1-11 was read with an emphasis on verses 10 and 11:
“And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a SAVIOUR, which is CHRIST the Lord.”
Christmas should be the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ! Sadly, though Christ is the reason for the season, He is missing at most of the parties as well in the hearts of many at the Christmas celebrations.
So Who Is This Christ Whose Birth We Celebrate December 25th?
In Genesis 1:1 we read:
“In the beginning God (translated from the Hebrew word “Elohim,” a plural noun denoting more than one) created the heaven and the earth.”
Have you ever wondered who it was that was there with God in the beginning? Or who it was that was with God in Genesis 1:26 where we read “And God said let Us make man in Our image, and after Our likeness?”
The Bible clearly tells us who it was that was with God. “In the beginning” in Genesis 1:1 is also at the beginning of John’s Gospel where we read in verses 1-14:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God, all things were made by Him: and without Him was not anything made that was made.” (John 1:1-3)
And notice who the bible tells us this “Word” was that was “with God in the beginning”? In verse 14 we learn who this “Word” was, and is, and forever more shall be:
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”
This birth of Jesus Christ had been prophesied by the prophet Isaiah some 750 years prior to His birth with these words:
“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign, behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emanuel.”
And this prophecy was fulfilled in Matthew 1:18-23 where we read:
“Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused (engaged) to Joseph, before they came together (in marriage), she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.”
“Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet (in Isaiah 7:14), saying Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emanuel, which being interpreted is, GOD WITH US.”
According to the clear teachings of the Bible, God took upon Himself a body of flesh and came to this earth in the person of Jesus Christ. Listen once again to the Scriptures
“. . . . God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” (I Timothy 3:16)
I will conclude our reading of the Scriptures with these verses from John 1:10-14:
“He (the WORD – Jesus Christ) was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.”
Yes, the true meaning of Christmas is that it is a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ! Now you know why we here at Hallelujah Acres will be celebrating Christmas this year. And why in the Malkmus household we will be celebrating Christmas, and I trust the reason you who are reading this will be celebrating Christmas this year.
Have a Blessed Christmas!
EDITORS NOTE: If you only know Jesus as a babe in a manger scene or whose birth is celebrated each year, may I encourage you to come to know Him in a personal way by asking Him to come into your heart, forgive you for your sin, and become your Saviour. I personally invited Jesus into my heart, to be my Saviour, on May 29, 1957 at a Billy Graham Crusade rally, at the age of 23.
If you would like more information on how to personally get to know the Christ of Christmas, write to me using the contact form on this site and I will send you some literature or have someone personally contact you.
