Hallelujah Acres Celebrates 18 Years of Ministry

Feb 7th

On February 12, 2010, the very same day I celebrate my 76th birthday, Hallelujah Acres will celebrate its 18th birthday. Following is a brief review telling of Hallelujah Acres’ beginning, growth, and current status, along with our vision for the future:

In 1976, I was 42 years old and pastor of The Greater Glens Falls Bible Baptist Church in Hudson Falls, New York, a church I had established in 1970, with just my family of six and an advertisement in the local paper. By 1976 the church had a membership of over 600, a Christian School with over 100 students in grades K-12, a Bible Institute program, a weekly radio broadcast titled “America Needs Christ” on several radio stations, and over a dozen young people in school preparing for the ministry. God’s blessing was surely on that ministry!

Then in January 1976, amidst all that blessing, I started experiencing rectal bleeding and a baseball sized tumor was discovering under my left rib cage. Then came the news – “Colon Cancer.”  Just prior to that devastating news, I had lost my mother, a registered nurse, to colon cancer after going the medical route. At the time of mother’s death I was convinced she died not from the cancer, but rather the treatments given her by medical doctors. Because of mother’s bad experience going the medical route with her cancer, I went searching for an alternative way of dealing with my cancer.

In my search, I reached out to an evangelist in Texas by the name of Lester Roloff. At the time, many in the Christian Community considered Brother Roloff a “Health Nut,” and were severely critical of his Biblically based health message. But that criticism didn’t stop me from listening to and heeding his advice when he discouraged me from going the medical route and encouraged me to stop eating the world’s meat based, sugar laden, Standard American Diet (SAD), which Brother Roloff said was the cause of my cancer.

In place of the world’s SAD diet, Brother Roloff encouraged me to eat only the foods God told Adam and Eve to eat in the Garden of Eden in Genesis 1:29, including lots of fresh vegetable juices. Overnight I made the diet change and within less than one year, my tumor as well as all symptoms of cancer were gone without any medical intervention. During that first year, not only did my cancer go away, but all other physical problems I was experiencing prior to making the diet change also went away.

That experience caused me as a pastor and student of the Bible, to search the Scriptures to see if I could find more counsel from God pertaining to diet, health, nutrition, lifestyle, etc., information that could possibly shed additional light on what appeared to be an almost miraculous recovery. That Biblical search led me to numerous verses in addition to the Genesis 1:29 verse Brother Roloff had turned me on to. Verses like 3 John 2:1, where God says: “Beloved, I wish above all things that though mayest prosper and BE IN HEALTH, even as thy soul prospereth.”

In 1988, my miraculous cancer recovery, along with the numerous Bible verses I had found, inspired the writing of my first book Why Christians Get Sick. This book was originally self-published and then picked up by Destiny Image, a Christian Publisher. Over a million copies of this book are now in print and the book has been translated into several languages. The book contains over 100 of those Scripture verses I had previously found that related to diet, health, nutrition, lifestyle, etc.

In 1991, before Hallelujah Acres had its official beginning, I held a seminar in Rogersville, Tennessee, attended by only a few people. A young lady by the name of Rhonda was in that seminar. Her car had been hit by a freight train in 1981, and as a result arthritis had settled into almost every joint in her body and she could hardly move. She got on The Hallelujah Diet, and within less than a year her arthritis was gone and she had lost 85 pounds. I love to tell folks that “After I rebuilt her body… I married her!”

On February 12, 1992, because of all that was being learned and personally experienced, Rhonda and I established Hallelujah Acres, a Christian Ministry! It was established for the purpose of teaching Health from a Biblical perspective, and was our humble effort to restore health to a very sick Christian Community, a community that was just as sick as the non-Christian Community even though most of the prayer requests in our churches were for healing.

The ministry began in a tiny 11-foot-wide, 16-seat vegetarian restaurant and Health Food Store on Main Street in the little town of Rogersville, Tennessee. Few frequented our little restaurant in those early days – that is until I started offering a free “How to Eliminate Sickness” seminar Saturday mornings. As people started listening and applying what was being taught, testimonies of miraculous healings started to be shared by those who had been healed of a myriad of physical problems.

One man, after only six months on the diet, reported a 60-pound weight loss as well as the disappearance of 28-different physical problems. But that was just the beginning. Since then, tens-of-thousands have written to tell me that they have recovered from over 170 different physical problems after adopting what we call today “The Hallelujah Diet,” including even terminal cancers.

It wasn’t long before pastors from across the country were asking me to hold seminars in their churches. In the mid-1990’s, Pat Robertson asked me to appear on the 700 Club. That 9-minute interview generated more response than anything the 700 Club had ever previously experienced. Later, appearances on Trinity Broadcasting, ABC Nightline, NBC, CBS, along with numerous appearances on FOX News and The Food Network, introduced The Hallelujah Diet to millions.

In 1993, Hallelujah Acres began publishing a free paper publication that has a current readership of over a half-million. In 1997 we established a wonderful website at www.hacres.com which contains hundreds of hours of nutritional information from a Biblical perspective. In addition, since 1997, I have personally written a FREE electronic Hallelujah Health Tip, currently being mailed weekly to approximately 40,000 homes around the world. You are reading consecutive issue #638.

Today, Hallelujah Acres sits on 20 beautifully landscaped acres of land on the outskirts of Shelby, North Carolina (population 21,000), located between Charlotte and the gorgeous mountains of North Carolina an hour to the west. Charlotte is the largest city in North Carolina and only 45 minutes to the east. Mountain views are common in an area of mostly rolling hills, and the climate is the best – mild winters, incredible spring and fall, and summers not as hot as I experienced in New York.

With a current staff of 50 people, our Biblical Health Message is bringing hope and healing to millions around the world, and we have trained over 9,000 Health Ministers to help us take this Health Message to the world. Included in those 9,000 plus Health Ministers are 63 medical doctors, over 300 registered nurses and over 900 pastors who are sharing this information in their churches. These trained Health Ministers are currently located in every state in the United States as well as in 45 foreign countries.

Our Call Center handles some 500 incoming calls a day and our shipping department mails sometimes over 500 parcels a day, not only to addresses in America, but last year to 69 foreign countries. The profits derived from the sale of products are how we support the ministry. Thus every time someone purchases something from Hallelujah Acres they are helping us reach more people with God’s Health Message, “You don’t have to be sick!”

In 1998 we established “Hallelujah Acres Canada” and currently have a lovely store and shipping center located in Toronto, and have hundreds of trained Health Ministers scattered across all of the Canadian provinces. And we mail a special Canadian issue of our paper publication to thousands across Canada bi-monthly.

In 2003 we opened our first Hallelujah Acres Lifestyle Center in Lake Lure, North Carolina, then a second in Plant City, Florida, and another in southern California, and our most recent in Branson, Missouri. These lifestyle centers are in the homes of trained Health Ministers who take people into their homes for a week or two. There they learn about the diet and receive hands-on instructions into the how-to of our program as well as helping prepare and then taste the delicious foods of The Hallelujah Diet.

By 2006, Hallelujah Acres was running out of room. We did not want to relocate, so where to go was a huge question. But just like God has done time and again before, when the need arose, God answered by making available to us over 150 acres of cow pasture located directly across the road from Hallelujah Acres. We purchased the land and were just about to start construction of a 72-room Hotel and 250 seat Hallelujah Acres Restaurant when the economy went south. As soon as the economy improves we will move forward with this project.

In the mean time, we have moved ahead with developing most of the land into “The Villages of Hallelujah Acres” – A Christian Community that will emphasize “healthy living.” Ground breaking for “The Villages” took place on February 29, 2008 and infrastructure was completed in the fall of 2009. All utilities, including sewer, water, electric, natural gas, telephone and cable are underground and available.

Two homes have already been built in the Villages, one being the residence of this editor and Rhonda, which we moved into on November 3, 2009, and the other is Dr. Beam’s home. The Villages will eventually have some 600 residences including 190 (one, two, and three bedroom) Condominiums. A number of home sites have been sold or reserved while several families have moved to the area awaiting the completion of our first condominium.  We have had over 2,000 express interest in living in the Villages and we receive new inquiries daily. Learn more about the Villages of Hallelujah Acres.

What does the future hold for Hallelujah Acres? Only God knows! But it is thrilling to see how far Hallelujah Acres has already come since God gave me a vision back in 1988 which I shared in the last chapter of my first book “Why Christians Get Sick.” Following are the words I wrote over 20-years ago concerning the future of a ministry that had not as yet begun at the time of the writing:

“My goal is to make Hallelujah Acres into a modern Garden of Eden, from which God’s natural ways of health and healing will flow to Christians around the world. I envision Hallelujah Acres as being a place where Christians can come to seminars where they will learn how to grow, prepare, and serve foods as God intended. Nutrition and proper care of the body will be taught and then these Christians can go back to their respective areas of influence to share this knowledge with others. I personally believe that the American people, and especially Christians, are thoroughly disenchanted with the present means available for dealing with sickness, and are just waiting for someone to show them a better way. I want to and am willing and ready to do all I can to make this happen. Will you help me? The job is staggering, but the potential rewards can be fabulously exciting.

“As for the future, I envision Christian Churches worldwide as being places were prayer requests for sickness are a thing of the past, and God’s people exude the wellness God designed for His human creation. If Jesus tarries and with your help, I believe this is an attainable goal. Dear reader, will you join us as we continue our efforts to reach ever more fellow Christians, and anyone else who will listen, with the Biblical Health Message God has entrusted us with? With stronger and healthier bodies, we will be better equipped to fulfill that Great Commission Jesus entrusted us with – Which is: “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)”

I close by repeating those words I wrote over 20 years ago: “Will you help me? The job is staggering but the potential rewards can be fabulously exciting.”

Will you join us here at Hallelujah Acres and help us take God’s Health Message to multitudes of Christians around the world, as well as to anyone else who will listen? “Universal Health Care” is not the solution to our current health care crisis – but we here at Hallelujah Acres do have the solution. Please join us, because together and with God’s help, we can bring health and healing to a society that is sick and dying needlessly.

Friday, February 12th, is going to be a HUGE day here at Hallelujah Acres as we celebrate not only the 18th anniversary of Hallelujah Acres, and the 76th birthday of Rev. Malkmus, but it will also be the day that we officially re-open the Hallelujah Acres Café.

Following a fire in May of 2009, we had to restore most of the interior of our entire main building, and this caused us to have to shut down the Café. While it was closed, we knocked down a wall to expand its size so that we now have a dining room that can handle nearly 100 diners at a time, painted the walls, and installed new ceiling tiles and light fixtures, as well as adding some beautiful wall hangings.

During the time the Café was closed, we hired a professional chef and in November unofficially opened the Café. When we did re-open the Café, the salad bar was gone and in its place was a menu that not only included various types of salads, but all kinds of incredibly delicious vegan offerings, waiters and waitresses, and even take-outs. Following are just a few of the items that were found on that menu:

Vegetarian Chili, Curried Pumpkin Soup, Asian Lo-Mein Sichuan Salad, Artichoke Salad, Marinated Portobello Burger to just mention a few, along with a nice offering of salads, desserts which included Pomegranate Cheesecake (without cheese), Sweet Potato Pie, etc., and of course individual Pizzas (the most popular item on the menu), and a number of new beverages.

Well, hopefully we have all the bugs out (they’re not allowed in a vegan restaurant anyway ;-) ), and on February 12th, we will celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of The Hallelujah Acres Café, and you are invited to join us.

Following is the Events Schedule for the day:

Friday, February 12th Starting at 10:30 am.

Come celebrate the Grand Opening of the Hallelujah Acres Café, Rev. George Malkmus’ 76th birthday, and the 18th anniversary of Hallelujah Acres!

Examining Weight Loss Diets – Which One Is the Best (Part 2)

Feb 2nd

Posted by George Malkmus in George Malkmus

In recent Health Tips we have been taking a look at a health problem being experienced by an ever-increasing number of Americans – the problem of overweight and obesity, along with an expanding waistline. First, we dealt with the problem. Next, we dealt with the cause. Then we offered a solution.

Finally, last week, we examined various weight loss programs to determine which one is the best weight loss diet and why. Then we evaluated whether adopting this or that diet would improve overall health – or rather cause further deterioration of the health of the individual following the diet plans.

This week I want to pick up where we left off by explaining more fully the four fundamental truths used as a basis for the evaluations given each weight loss program. Before we begin, I want to restate those four fundamental truths used to evaluate each.

  1. Our physical body is a living organism, comprised of living cells.
  2. These living cells were designed by God to be nourished with living (raw) food. (See Genesis 1:29)
  3. All cooked food is dead food, and dead food is incapable of providing proper nourishment for a living organism.
  4. Animal source foods are not only dead foods (almost always cooked), but they are also devoid of fiber. In addition, they are loaded with fat, and if commercially grown also loaded with growth hormones and antibiotics.

Based on the above criteria, I then evaluated a number of the more popular weight loss diets being promoted. Each diet was given anywhere from a 1-STAR (poorest) to a 5-STAR (best) rating based on how effective the diet was in creating weight loss. I also rated each diet according to its ability to improve the overall health of the individual adopting the diet, or to potentially create new health problems. This second rating ranged from a MINUS-5 being the most likely to cause further deterioration of a person’s health, to a PLUS-5 being most likely to improve the health of the individual.

Our physical body is a living organism, comprised of living cells.

Each of our bodies had a similar beginning – a LIVING egg cell from our mother was fertilized by a LIVING sperm cell from our father. The uniting of these two LIVING cells then started rapidly multiplying. The original two LIVING cells divided  to become four LIVING cells, the four became eight, then 16, 32, 64,128, 256, 512, etc., etc., until a completely new LIVING human being (baby) had been formed, and was introduced into this world through a birth. That new physical body was comprised of approximately 100,000,000,000,000 (100 TRILLION) LIVING cells. In fact, everything that comprises the human physical body is made of LIVING cells – whether it is the blood, bone, muscle, skin, nails, immune system, heart, etc.

These living cells were designed by god to be nourished with living (raw) food as served up by nature (see genesis 1:29)

Every animal in the wild, since creation to this present day, whether carnivorous or vegetarian, instinctively has consumed its mother’s breast milk from birth until weaning, followed by consuming exclusively the LIVING (raw) foods (containing enzymes) found in nature. Only man takes the LIVING (raw) food that God has provided in nature and before he puts it into his mouth, puts it on a fire and cooks it with heat. This heat destroys all of the enzymes, the LIFE SOURCE found exclusively in raw foods. The heat also destroys a high percentage of the nutrients found in raw food.

With that fundamental knowledge as to how God designed his animal and human creations to be nourished, and the effect of heat upon that food, let’s take a look at how we nourish the human physical body today, and then compare it with how God designed the human body to be nourished. Let’s start with the birth of the human baby. This human baby, comprised of LIVING cells, was designed by God to be nourished initially with the milk coming from mother’s breast, milk which contains the LIVING enzymes and LIVING nutrients so necessary for proper development and growth.

But today, instead of placing the baby on mother’s breast, as God designed and intended, many babies are placed on pasteurized (cooked) formula, pasteurized (cooked) soy milk, or pasteurized (cooked) cow milk, ALL totally devoid of enzymes. In other words, totally devoid of LIFE! The baby often reacts to this DEAD, nutritionally inadequate food, by displaying such symptoms as colic, ear  infections, throat infections, swollen glands, allergies, asthma, diaper rashes, fevers, etc.

All cooked food is dead food, and dead food cannot properly nourish a living organism.

Following birth, after most babies have been given a form of milk devoid  of enzymes (LIFE) and lacking in important nutrients, they are usually placed on cooked (DEAD) food following weaning, foods not only devoid  of LIFE, but also lacking fiber, in ever increasing proportions. Cooked baby cereals give way to cooked baby foods purchased in small baby-food jars. Again, we are attempting to nourish a  LIVING organism with DEAD food, and thus  the  physical problems usually continue  to manifest and the child is often taken to a doctor who prescribes a toxic drug in an effort to subdue a symptom, caused by the  DEAD, devitalized, fibreless,  contaminated fuel (food) being fed the child.

Almost everything that comes in a box, can, jar, or container of any kind has already been cooked or pasteurized (cooked), and thus the enzymes (LIFE) as well as many of the nutrients, have been destroyed. DEAD foods also include all cooked animal flesh as well as pasteurized dairy products, flour products, table salt, coffee, tea, soft drinks, etc., etc. These are the foods that cause not only weight gain, but the majority of the physical problem being experienced by mankind.

Animal source foods are not only dead foods (almost always cooked), but they are also devoid of fiber. In addition, they are loaded with fat, and if commercially grown also loaded with growth hormones and antibiotics.

Almost every weight loss diet being promoted today either allows or promotes animal source foods, yet the Hallelujah Diet excludes all animal source foods. Why? Let’s look at some of the reasons the Hallelujah Acres Diet excludes all animal source foods:

  1. Our physical body was designed by God to move food through a very lengthy (approximately 30 feet in length) digestive tract, comprised of many pockets, loops, and bends, by means of fiber. All plant source foods are not only LIVING foods, but are also loaded with fiber. In fact, plant foods are the only source of fiber available in anything humans eat. When a person eats plant source foods, because they are loaded with fiber, they move quickly through that 30-feet of digest tract, digesting in 30-60 minutes, and have passed on out of the body in just 16 to 20 hours.
  2. Animal source foods on the other hand are totally devoid of fiber. Because they contain no fiber to propel them, they move very sluggishly through those 30-feet of tubing taking 72 to 96 hours to exit. Now comes even worse news – the temperature inside our body is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit.  That’s almost 100 degrees, and what do you think that animal flesh does in that nearly 100 degree temperature during the 3-4 day journey? It rots! And that horrible body odor people try so hard to cover up with soap and water and under arm deodorants is simply the stink coming from those rotting animal flesh foods.
  3. This rotting  flesh is not only the cause of body odor, but also the cause of most all  of  the colon problems people experience – IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), colitis, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, diverticulosis, colon cancer, and more. In addition, animal source foods are acidic, and the cause of heartburn and acid stomach problems for which people take antacids and other drugs. Yet by simply eliminating animal source foods, most people will cease to have need of an antacid in as little as 3-5 days, and most colon problems will simply disappear over time.
  4. Animal source foods are either the cause or a contributing cause of up to 90% of all physical problems being experienced today. Just a few of the many physical problems created by animal source foods include: heart attacks, strokes, cancer, diabetes, allergies, arthritis, asthma, osteoporosis, colon problems, weight gain, and more. Dr. Campbell in his booklet “The China Project,” writes: “Only small intakes of animal products were associated with significant increases in chronic degenerative diseases.”
  5. All animals in the wild, whether carnivorous or vegetarian, consume a 100% LIVING (raw) flesh food diet, and have ever since creation until this very day. Animals in the wild are never overweight and rarely ever get sick.
  6. According to the bible, man lived the first 1,700 years after creation on a LIVING (raw, enzymatic ally active) 100% plant based diet (See Genesis 1:29), to an average age of 912, without a single recorded instance of sickness or overweightness. However, following the flood, after God had allowed man to consume animal flesh in Genesis 9:3 (I believe because all plant source foods had been destroyed by the flood), man started to consume cooked animal flesh and an ever increasing percentage of refined, dead (cooked) food, and physical problems began to manifest and then accelerate.
  7. Today, when a person returns to the primarily LIVING (raw) 100% plant sourced diet God told Adam, and through Adam  all mankind to consume in Genesis 1:29, a diet loaded with enzymes, almost always does weight normalize and physical problems almost always simply and quite quickly disappear.

Based on the above, I evaluated eight weight loss diets in last week’s Health Tip. I rated them according to how well or how poorly they fit the above criteria. Those with the highest percentages of animal source foods were given good ratings for weight loss primarily because of ketosis, but the lowest ratings as far as improving a person’s health.

The next-lowest ratings for improving health went to those diets that were predominantly comprised of cooked food, while the highest ratings were reserved for those diets that eliminated all animal source foods and had the highest percentage of LIVING, raw, enzymatically alive, plant source foods.

Hallelujah Acres to the Rescue

Since Hallelujah Acres had its beginning in 1992 and started promoting the Hallelujah Diet, a diet based on God’s Genesis 1:29 diet, literally tens of thousands have written to tell me that after adopting the Hallelujah Diet, they saw over 170 different physical problems, including even terminal cancers, disappear from their body and they just didn’t get sick anymore.

In addition to these 170 different physical problems people reported going away; almost every person who was overweight before they adopted The Hallelujah Acres Diet and Lifestyle, usually also saw their excess pounds and inches simply melt away and without much effort.

The Hallelujah Diet and Lifestyle we proclaim here at Hallelujah Acres is based on God’s original Genesis 1:29 Garden of Eden Diet, the diet God gave to Adam and Eve in that garden, and is the lifeline being offered God’s people for this day in which we live. And this lifeline is available to “Whosoever will, may come”, Christian or even non-Christian. This lifeline has the power to restore the health and waistline of almost anyone who will grab hold of it.

And for most reading this, your health and waistline can be restored. You can become a strong, physically active, and healthy soldier in God’s army – a soldier fit for the Master’s use. Won’t you join me, Rhonda, and Hallelujah Acres and become a part of this “Healthy Army of God”? Please say “YES.”

With over 6,500 men and women from around the world participating in our 60 Days to a Hallelujah Waistline, I thought it might be of interest to our subscribers to read a few of the testimonies being received from those who are participating in the program:

Ray L. of Chapel Hill, NC writes:

In the two months since starting the diet I have lost 40 pounds! … I had been taking cholesterol lowering drugs for six years and now my numbers are normal without drugs. My triglyceride numbers had also been elevated. I had a checkup in December and my triglyceride numbers were below normal for the first time.

Read Ray’s full weight-loss story here.

Cindy W. of Asheboro, NC also shared her story with us. She writes:

Following the Hallelujah Diet and Lifestyle plan I have lost five pounds already! But the BEST part is, my Blood Pressure has gone from 160/95 on medication… to 116/80 off meds!

You can read Cindy’s whole story here.

While on our recent speaking tour in Florida, in every seminar we conducted, people were coming up to us and showing us their 60-Day wrist bands, proof they were serious about taking the 60-Day challenge, and sharing the incredible improvements in health and pounds lost they had experienced since adopting The Hallelujah Acres Diet and Lifestyle. The average weight loss being reported after the first two weeks was between five and fifteen pounds.

This 60-Day challenge to a Hallelujah Waistline has introduced more people and caused more people to adopt The Hallelujah Diet and Lifestyle than anything we have ever done in the 18 years since we began Hallelujah Acres on February 12, 1992.

    • Experience Healthy Living!

If you are not already on The Hallelujah Diet, I encourage you to give it a try!

Hallelujah Acres is a Christian Ministry that teaches health from a Biblical perspective! We try to help the Christian community (as well as anyone else who will listen) realize that God's original diet, as given in the Bible in Genesis 1:29, was His perfect plan for the proper nourishment of His human creation. Multitudes have made the diet change we teach here at Hallelujah Acres and have experienced normalization of weight, as well as the elimination of almost all their physical problems.
