The Naked Truth About Vitamin D
Dec 14th
Most people already know the story of how God created the heavens and the earth. He made all the animals and the people and everything was good (see Genesis 1 & 2 for the whole story). We read with wonder at how that He made the sun and the moon. Then with sheepish grins, we come to an embarrassing truth. The man and woman were naked in the garden (Genesis 2:25).
What Has All This Got To Do With Vitamin D?
Plenty! Sun exposure on the skin has been God’s natural provision for vitamin D both in the garden some 6,000 years ago to today!
God knew what He was doing! As we have recently learned, UVB rays from the sun provide the most effective, most reliable, most abundant, most natural source of vitamin D.
Vitamin D sufficiency, along with proper diet and exercise, has been shown to be the most important preventative factors in human health. Hundreds of studies link vitamin D deficiency with significantly higher rates of many forms of cancer, as well as heart disease, osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis, and numerous other diseases.
Sunlight Has Been Given A Bad Rap
For years we have been told by the so-called experts of our day that we must avoid the sun’s rays that God allowed to fall upon Adam and Eve. These experts tell us that sun exposure can lead not only to skin cancer, but also premature aging of the skin (wrinkles), cataracts, and more.
It is important for everyone to understand that the dangers of sun exposure have been greatly exaggerated and the benefits of sun exposure greatly underestimated.
God designed the human body to receive daily exposure to the sun’s rays for numerous reasons. For one thing, the sun provides the body with building materials needed to produce vitamin D, one of the most basic and important elements the body needs.
If you still believe the sun’s rays are dangerous, it is imperative that you reevaluate your thinking. Continue to shun the sun’s rays and you could needlessly experience numerous physical problems — problems you can avoid if you enjoy the sun.
It is Important to Avoid Sunburn
While it is important that we expose our skin to the sun to obtain our vitamin D, we must not overexpose our bodies to the sun’s rays. This can indeed be dangerous.
By the way, did you know that numerous people who sunburned very easily before adopting The Hallelujah Diet report that they now find it almost impossible to burn?
My wife, Rhonda, is an example. Before adopting The Hallelujah Diet, she would develop severe blisters and even sunstroke after just a short time in the sun. But since being on The Hallelujah Diet she sometimes spends the entire day in the sun helping me in the garden.
What has made the difference in her body’s reaction to the sun?
The key factor in the cause of sunburn is a lack of sufficient antioxidants. Raw fruits and vegetables – especially vegetable juices and BarleyMax – are loaded with antioxidants, while the Standard American Diet is almost totally devoid of them.
If you are a person who has previously allowed your skin limited access to the sun, try this. Next spring or summer, begin exposure to the sun slowly, say 10 to 15 minutes a day. Then, progressively increase your time in the sun over the next few weeks.
Interestingly, while some medical experts warn people to avoid the sun in order to prevent skin cancer, there is good evidence that sun exposure without burning actually decreases the potential of developing it.
Vitamin D Helps Protect the Body from Numerous Diseases
Vitamin D is entirely different from all other vitamins. Technically, it is a prohormone your body produces from the good kind of cholesterol your body produces naturally. Being a prohormone, vitamin D influences the entire body. Receptors that respond to this hormone are found in almost every cell within the body.
When a person receives regular exposure to the UVB rays of the sun, the vitamin D levels of the body are increased. Studies show these increased levels of vitamin D help protect the body from numerous diseases:
- Many types of cancer
- Heart disease
- Diabetes
- Autoimmune disease
- Osteoporosis and even depression
D-fending You Against the Flu
Better and far safer than any flu vaccine man can create, vitamin D helps produce antibacterial peptides. These help protect you against the flu.
Did you ever notice that more people get the flu in winter? This is why. In winter there is little sunshine so people are more prone to vitamin D deficiency. The flu may simply be a symptom of this vitamin D deficiency. (Food Consumer March 7, 2010)
Vitamin D increases the body’s production of up to 300 different antimicrobial peptides that are far more effective in protecting one against the flu than any synthetic antibiotic or antiviral. It’s also a small fraction of the cost.
Lead researcher Carsten Geisler told Food Consumer: “When a T cell is exposed to a foreign pathogen, it extends a signaling device or ‘antenna’ known as a vitamin D receptor, with which it searches for vitamin D. If the T cells cannot find enough vitamin D in the blood, they won’t even begin to mobilize.”
This is why flu shots don’t work. When the immune system is not working properly because of a deficiency of vitamin D, the toxins in the flu shot do additional damage to the immune system while the side-effects from the flu shot have at times proved deadly.
Dr. Blaylock tells us that if a senior citizen receives an annual flu shot for 5 consecutive years they increase their potential of Alzheimer’s by 1,000 percent because of the mercury in the shot. I have personally known three individuals who did not have the flu at the time of the flu vaccinations, but after receiving the vaccination died of the flu.
How Can We Strengthen Our Immune System?
God gave us an immune system to protect us against germs, viruses, and bacteria. But the immune system can only function optimally when it is kept strong through proper diet and lifestyle.
The strength of our immune system is not determined by our doctor. Rather, God has given each of us the ability to keep it strong.
- Adopt a mostly raw, 100% plant based diet (like The Hallelujah Diet)
- Remove all refined sugar from the diet (sugar is an immune suppressant)
- Aerobically exercise the body daily
- Obtain adequate rest
- Avoid stress as much as possible
- If you can’t get enough sunshine to produce adequate vitamin D [which is impossible in northern climates most of the year] take a daily vitamin D3 supplement.
Rhonda and this editor each take 5000 IU of vitamin D3 daily year-round. Children need 1,000 to 2,000 IU.
If you choose to supplement, make sure it is with vitamin D3. Vitamin D2 is the synthetic kind found in homogenized milk and is often prescribed by physicians. It does not offer the same protection as D3.
Many people have chosen to make the small investment of $35 to get a vitamin D blood test through Hallelujah Acres. This test will verify whether your vitamin D level is within the optimum range. Through the years, dozens of couples have given birth to what we call “Hallelujah Babies.”
A Hallelujah baby is one whose parents were both on The Hallelujah Diet at time of conception and the mother remained on The Hallelujah Diet through pregnancy. The child is usually born at home, breast fed, and free of vaccinations.
…and this time it was TWIN Hallelujah Babies!
The twins were born to Angela and Michael Donaldson, PhD, Research Director of the Hallelujah Acres. In an email to me the day after his twin girls were born, Michael wrote:
“My wife just gave birth to our 11th and 12th children, twin girls. Grace and Gloria were born at home on December 8 at 39-1/2 weeks gestation. They weighed 8 lb 1 oz and 6 lb 7 oz, respectively. They are strong, healthy babies.”
The Donaldson twins are the latest development in Michael and Angela’s “Hallelujah” story, which began more than 14 years ago. Here’s how Michael describes it:
“We made the change to The Hallelujah Diet back in 1996, during Angela’s third pregnancy. The motivation was for Angela’s health during pregnancies. We wanted God to bless us with lots of children, but the pregnancy nausea was too hard on her. As we sought God for answers the answers came through nutrition.
“A midwife lent us her copy of Rev. Malkmus’ book God’s Way to Ultimate Health. The testimonies in the book were astounding and intriguing, and led us to adopt The Hallelujah Diet.
“The fourth pregnancy, while following The Hallelujah Diet, was the best yet for Angela. She felt energetic and delivery was uncomplicated. The baby thrived and to this day he has a very sweet disposition.
“Since then, during pregnancies, Angela has relied ever more on the fresh vegetable juices through the morning hours to make it through home schooling with energy. All of our children have been home schooled. Most days she drank at least 1-1/2 quarts of fresh juice. (Her favorite was a mix of Romaine lettuce, spinach, celery, apple, orange, and a touch of lemon.)
“All of our births after adopting the Hallelujah Diet have been at home and uncomplicated. This time, when we found we were expecting twins, we initially thought we were going to have to have them in the hospital, but were able to find a midwife who had experience delivering twins at home.
“The births went quite well and uncomplicated. The labor was fairly short – about four hour’s total. Angela had around 12 contractions total. Both babies were delivered normally, head first and with no complications. Except for the bleeding after the placentas were delivered, it was one of her very easiest births.
“Angela’s health has been excellent through all of her pregnancies after changing to The Hallelujah Diet. After the diet change she has never had trouble with high blood pressure, nausea, water retention or swelling of her legs, or preeclampsia. We have not had a miscarriage either.
“She did not have insomnia and was easily able to go back to sleep each time. With the twins she did experience some uncomfortableness toward the end of the pregnancy due to the babies’ kicking, but her health was strong throughout the whole term.
“Her diet throughout the pregnancy, in addition to nearly two quarts of mainly vegetable juice each day, included such cooked foods as beans, whole grains and vegetables. Extra greens were used to help boost iron levels. She also ate two tablespoons of BarleyMax each day along with the following supplements: Pharmax fish oil, vitamin B12, iodine, probiotics, vitamin D, and a high quality Synergy multivitamin.
“Can twins be carried full term and delivered normally, even at home? The answer is, ‘by the grace of God, yes!’ A lot of the answer is the same as it is for all other health issues – nutrition and prayer for God’s guidance and empowering grace.
“The answer is not a lot of high tech screenings and interventions, but rather simple, good, fresh raw plant foods – foods that restore your youth like and eagle so that you can soar on and on (Psalm 103:5).
“The Lord gave us the names for the twins after an ultrasound revealed two girls in Angela’s womb and God brought Psalm 34 to Angela’s attention:
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give GRACE and GLORY: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.”
(Editor’s Note: The pictures of Grace and Gloria were taken within less than 24 hours of their birth. Notice the freedom of blemishes and healthy skin tone. After their mother had nourished her body according to God’s Genesis 1:29 diet for 9 months, the twins’ birth took place the way God designed, at home, without any drugs. Hallelujah!)
Doctor Defensive After Patient Starts Getting Well
Dec 11th
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You for all those wonderful emails you send me each week. I read every one. So please keep those letters coming, as they greatly encourage and inspire me as well as those who read them.
“My husband, Nick, went to the doctor yesterday for a checkup. The doctor took Nick off his insulin and told him he doesn’t have to return for another checkup for six months. All the doctor asked Nick to do was monitor his blood sugar daily until his next check up.
“When we told the doctor we were on The Hallelujah Diet and feeling so much better he became quite defensive.
“Since making the diet change we have both lost 20 pounds and have so much more energy. Also, Nick’s kidneys are now normal. Hallelujah!
“We are spreading the word about The Hallelujah Diet to as many others as possible. Many blessings to all of you there at Hallelujah Acres.”
Nick & Verne M.
“I am writing to say ‘thank you’ for what you do. It is my hope that someday more Americans will learn to eat better than they are currently eating. Most people have a serious problem with their diet and sickness will continue to increase until they change their diets.
“My wife has been batting breast cancer for the past 5 years. She has stuck pretty well to The Hallelujah Diet and is doing well. She very seldom gets sick and if she does get a cold it is only for a day or two.”
Pat & Lisa M.
“I thank God for The Hallelujah Diet. I was diagnosed with a complex ovarian cyst which had ruptured and collected in the rectouterine pouch. I came across The Hallelujah Diet and adopted it. Today, three months later the ovarian cyst has completely regressed and the fluid has reduced dramatically.
“I pray that God will bless you abundantly for all that you do to help others and that you will pray for me that I will not ever give into the temptation to revert back to the animal-based diet that caused my physical problems. My desire is to conceive and have a baby.”
Rundel T.
“Shalom! Warm greetings from Kampala, Uganda. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you so much for all the recent Health Tips about cancer, carrot juice, The Hallelujah Diet, alkaline and acid, and so many others. I really appreciate all that you are doing to help man live well.
“Here in Uganda I have been sharing the Hallelujah Acres Health Message. The challenges are many. They need to make the diet change, but many can’t afford a juicer, leave alone BarleyMax. Uganda is an agricultural country but due to what I cannot explain, very few people eat raw vegetables and fruits. They prefer cooking their food and eating lots of white rice. Because of this poor diet, many suffer with diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, and people are dying of cancer at a very high rate.
“I am trying to encourage people to grow vegetables and fruits and to eat them raw. I know I can save many lives by getting the people to adopt The Hallelujah Diet. Thank you so much and may God bless you.”

A Village Built for Health

Have you ever asked your next door neighbor, “How are you doing today?” and wished you hadn’t asked? Often the response is a litany of all the physical problems they are experiencing (possibly more than you have time to listen to).
Now, imagine living in a community where the response is “Hallelujah HEALTHY!” Then they proceed to share with you how good the Lord has been to them and thanking Him for His abundant blessings and provision.
Where many people live today, it is not uncommon to hear cursing and the use of the Lord’s name in vain. Imagine living in a community where rather than hearing cursing, you hear people praising God.
