A Little Change Can Do A Lot!
Jan 20th
I so appreciate the constant flow of testimonies, telling of improved health as a result of adopting The Hallelujah Diet. So many days they make my day! Please keep them coming — I read each one.
“Hi George, your Hallelujah Diet is the most awesome diet I have ever been on or read about. Please keep those Health Tips and magazines coming! They are great! Since adopting The Hallelujah Diet I have lost 14 pounds and feel better than I ever I have ever felt before.”

“Hello Rev. Malkmus, I recently was given a copy of your book ‘Why Christians Get Sick’ by my great-grandmother who wanted to make sure that I not only had the book but that I read it. She is over 100 years old and claims that the health principles contained in your book are responsible for her long life.
Well, I just read the book from beginning to end and am inspired to make some healthy changes. I am 36 years old and in pretty good health, but do have some physical and emotional problems that could use a little improving.
I agree with you wholeheartedly that most Americans need to consume more raw fruits and vegetables. Thank you for your dedication to health.”

“My brother died of a massive heart attack at the age of 68. My sister, also in her late 60s, currently has lung cancer. I am also in my late 60s, but because of a change in diet and lifestyle have seen my physical problems go away.
I started out by following the teachings of Dr. Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn, and was following Dr. Esselstyn’s diet when I came upon The Hallelujah Diet. The results of making this diet change have been phenomenal! My cholesterol levels now range between 128 and 140, with my LDL (to the amazement of my doctor) is 42 and my HDL 48.
Before the diet change I was a diabetic and on insulin, but as a result of the diet change I have been able to throw away all diabetic medication and my A1C is 5.2, again, to the amazement of my doctor.
I am thrilled to have learned how I can protect myself against heart attack and stroke and make my body disease proof. Blessed be the name of the Lord who has chosen to reveal to me both spiritual life and physical health. Thank you for the work you are doing in helping so many and may God bless you and yours.”

“I have tremendous respect for your mission in life. My wife (who is battling cancer) and I spent five days at a Hallelujah Acres Lifestyle Center. I have a question: ‘I am 71 years old and in exceptional health. However, I take over 25 supplements each day. I need advice as to what supplements I should take in order to remain healthy. I’m sure this question is one many others have as well and would join with me in appreciating your response.”
Jim H.
EDITOR RESPONDS – The need for supplementation varies from one individual to another depending upon their diet and personal health situation. Most people on The Hallelujah Diet do not need aggressive supplementation.
Basic areas for consideration for most people include obtaining adequate B-12, Omega 3 fats (especially DHA), and Vitamin D3 (blood levels should be 60 ng/ml or higher). Enzymes would also be helpful when consuming cooked foods. Some folks, especially those who consume chlorinated water or have taken antibiotics (which destroy friendly bacteria) need probiotic supplementation to restore the friendly bacteria in the gut. BarleyMax is a fundamental component of the diet and is not considered a supplement because it is a whole living food.
Please remember that I am not a medical doctor and therefore cannot give medical advice.
What Does A Healthy Family Look Like?
Jan 11th
We are each the unique creation of God, designed to have offspring, which in turn become family:
“And God said, Let us make man in our image after our likeness . . . So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them . . . And God blessed them, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply . . .” (Genesis 1:26-28)
In this Health Tip I want you to take a good look at your family. Now I am not writing this to be critical or hurtful, but rather I am hoping that you will take the occasion to take a good look at the physical health of your family and see if you are pleased with what you see.
As we begin, I am going to ask a number of questions in an effort to help each of us evaluate whether our family is on a road that will lead to abundant health, or on a path that will lead to increasing physical break down and possibly an early and untimely death.
For some, this will not be an easy journey, and there are no doubt some that are already afraid to go any further in turning the spotlight on their own family. But friend, if we don’t take an honest look at where our family is physically the future health of our family can potentially be far worse than it is today.
What Is the Size of Your Family?
I am not looking for you to determine how many different people are in your family. What I am asking is “How BIG is each member of your family? How much do they weigh? What is the size of their waistline and hipline?
Statistics tell us that 63% of Americans are either overweight or obese. In recent years there has been an explosion in childhood obesity, while at the same time parents are experiencing ever expanding waistlines. Now please be honest with yourself and take a good look at your family – your spouse and children if you have any.
What Do You See?
Please be honest here by allowing an honest evaluation:
Dad – Does dad have a slim, trim, muscular body? Or is there a bulge at the waistline? I am appalled at the number of preachers who get up to preach on a Sunday Morning, standing in a pulpit proclaiming the Word of God, and being anything but a good representative of the Lord because of a protruding waistline that resembles a beer belly. But it is not just the preachers, but the average man in the average congregation as well.
Mother – What is the physical shape of mom? I’m not saying that she has to have that muscular body that dad should have, but she should have a slim and trim body without a bulging waistline, fat arms and thighs.
Children – What is the body mass of your children? Are they slim and trim and an object of perpetual motion as God designed them to be? Or are they overweight, sluggish, desiring rather to sit and watch television, play a video game, or sit at a computer than participating almost daily in a physically active sport?
Now that we have taken an honest evaluation of our family’s physical body size and shapes, what are the choices? (1) Ignore it. (2) Recognize the need and do nothing. (3) Recognize the need to do something and start down the road to correcting it.
(1) Ignore it – Friend, you can ignore it, but that will not make it go away or improve the condition. Rather, if you ignore it, the problem will only get worse over time, and eventually (if some of the symptoms are not already being manifested) produce some very serious health challenges and no doubt an early death. Are you willing to gamble with your family’s health?
(2) Recognize the need and do nothing – Your results are not going to be any better than that of the person who chooses to ignore what they see.
(3) Recognize the need and do something about it – “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.” (James 1:22-24)
We must commit and do our part to achieve victory!
The Bible warns us in Galatians 6:7, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man [or women] soweth, that shall he [or she] also reap.”
It doesn’t matter how spiritual we are or how much we pray and ask God to take something undesirable away. This will not solve the problem. We created the situation and it is up to each of us to resolve it. In other words, God will not do for us what we are not willing to do for ourselves or at least be a participant in.
Now God will certainly help us achieve our goals, but we have to initiate the effort and we have to be committed to its achievement. Here is what God promises us if we will make the commitment and start down that road to victory: “I CAN DO all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Philippians 4:23)
Consequences of Ignoring
We just read in Galatians 6:7 that “whatsoever a man [or woman] soweth, that shall he [or she] also reap.” This is an irreversible law, established by almighty God that warns of consequences when we ignore what is self-evident. So what are the consequences of ignoring the condition of excess weight or obesity?
Being overweight or obese can become a matter of life and death. People who are overweight are more likely to develop a number of potentially serious physical and even emotional problems, which increases the risk of an early and untimely death. Following are just a few of the risk factors of being overweight:
Heart Disease – The more weight a person is carrying over their ideal weight the greater their risk of an early death due to heart attack. These heart attacks are usually preceded by elevated blood pressure readings.
These elevated blood pressure readings are caused by fat accumulation on the arterial walls that requires the heart to pump harder in order to push the blood through the accumulated fat clinging to the arterial walls.
Recently, a 45-year old Baptist Pastor in our area dropped dead due to a massive heart attack. The average child is already showing fat build up on their arterial walls, while in the Vietnamese war, autopsies on deceased 20-year old soldiers revealed as much as 50% arterial blockage.
When traveling, Rhonda and I will often stop at a McDonald’s for a bathroom break and I am appalled at what I see – children eating burgers and fries. I heard what was meant to be a joke the other day that really wasn’t funny: “The quickest way to gain entrance to a cemetery is through the Golden Arches.” Sadly, this is a true statement!
If you haven’t already seen the video “Super Size Me” this is a must see. It chronicles a man who at nothing but McDonald’s food for 30 days and became seriously ill. (Please note: Although this movie provides a crucial lesson for diet and lifestyle, it is rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America for language, sex and drug references, and a graphic medical procedure. Viewer discretion is advised.)
Stroke – As with heart attacks, excess weight can play a significant role in creating conditions that set the stage for a stroke. As the fat accumulates in the arteries leading to the brain, it has the potential of shutting off the oxygen flow to the brain which leads to a stroke. This slow shut off of oxygen reaching the brain often contributes to a decline in mental abilities as a person ages.
Diabetes – As the number of overweight people continues to climb, so does the rate of diabetes. Excess fat makes the body resistant to insulin, and when the body is resistant to insulin, the cells are unable to get the energy they need. Diabetes used to be an adult problem, but today juvenile diabetes is sweeping the land.
There is a link between body weight and Type 2 diabetes. The link is the interaction of fat cells and insulin. The cells in the body need insulin to bring them glucose. But fat cells are resistant to insulin, leaving an unnecessarily high level of glucose in the bloodstream, thus not providing enough energy for the cells. Essentially, the fat is zapping energy and eventually the body becomes resistant to insulin.
Cancer – As the number of pounds a person carries increase, the potential for developing cancer proportionally increases. The New England Journal of Medicine published a study that concluded that virtually all forms of cancer are more prevalent in people with a higher body mass. Body mass wasn’t only linked to new cancer cases; it was also linked to cancer survival rates, which are lower for heavier people.
Sleep Apnea – The more overweight a person, the greater and more severe the potential for sleep apnea. We have received some wonderful testimonies from folks who, after losing weight through The Hallelujah Diet, reduced the need for their PAP machine until they were able to eliminate the machine entirely.
Back and Knee Strain – A regulation bowling ball weighs 16-pounds. If you were to take your overweight pounds and divide those pounds by 16, that is the number of bowling balls your body is carrying mainly around your waist. This extra weight places a tremendous strain on the body to support this extra weight, especially on the knees and back.
This extra weight leads to knee pain, disc problems, and back pain. These problems often lead to knee replacement, and back surgeries. And these surgeries usually follow years of doctor visits, drugs, and pain. All these, along with other problems that are related to carrying excess weight, are so unnecessary because a person allowed their body to put on those extra pounds.

Next week, if the good Lord is willing and the creeks don’t rise, we will offer some ways to resolve this excess weight issue, as we continue to deal with the subject: “What Does A Healthy Family Look Like?”
Just One Cigarette Can Harm DNA
Jan 8th
Even brief exposure to tobacco smoke causes immediate harm to the body, damaging cells and inflaming tissue in ways that can lead to serious illness and death, according to the U.S. Surgeon General’s new report on tobacco released December 9, 2010, the first such report in 4 years.
While the report focuses on the medical effects of smoke on the body, it also sheds light on why cigarettes are so addictive: They are designed to deliver nicotine more quickly and more efficiently than cigarettes did decades ago.
Every exposure to tobacco, from occasional smoking or secondhand smoke, can damage DNA in ways that lead to cancer.
“Tobacco smoke damages almost every organ in your body,” says Surgeon General Regina Benjamin. In someone with underlying heart disease, she says “One cigarette can cause a heart attack.”
Recent changes in the design and ingredients in cigarettes have made them more likely to hook first-time users and keep older smokers coming back, Benjamin says. Some recent changes in design include:
*Ammonia added to tobacco, converts nicotine into a form that gets to the brain faster.
*Filter holes that allow people to inhale smoke more deeply into the lungs.
*Sugar and “moisture enhancers” to reduce the burning sensation of smoking, making it more pleasant, especially for new users.
For more information on the dangers of smoking see my Health Tip article titled “The Smoking Gun.”
Lives Changed From Africa to Virginia
Nov 30th
Every week I receive letters from subscribers to the Hallelujah Health Tip. I find so many of them inspirational, especially those that tell how The Hallelujah Diet has improved someone’s health. So please keep those letters coming, as they greatly encourage and inspire me as well as the others who read them.
“Our Rev. Koyejo passed your book ‘God’s Way to Ultimate Health’ to me just last week and I can’t stop reading it. After reading the book I quickly adopted The Hallelujah Diet. Your book…. should be propagated all over the world. Please extend your seminars to Africa (Nigeria) and to the uttermost parts of the world.
“I seize the opportunity to thank you and congratulate you on this masterpiece of literature which has saved the lives of thousands of God’s people.”
Dominic A., Lagos, Nigeria
“Praise and thanks to our Creator for His grace. I had the privilege to get hold of your book ‘God’s Way to Ultimate Health.’ What a truth! Unfortunately I grew up in a home where I was given cooked food and meat to eat every day. I am now 69 years old. Due to the meat I have consumed all my life, arthritis has claimed my hands.
“Your book was an eye-opener to me and I can only praise our Savior for bringing these precious truths to my knowledge. I have been a born-again believer since I was 11. Our Lord has a high calling for me, but all the time it felt like something was missing – until now, because now I can give sick people real hope for this life and even more important, hope for the next life through Jesus Christ.
“When I see all the pain and agony people are suffering here in Africa, I can see in your country there is an awakening as to the cause of physical problems and how to make people well through good nutrition and without drugs. I am praying that this information will grow worldwide.
“I want to be a blessing to the people here in my country who are killing themselves with what they are placing on their forks. It would be such a blessing for me to bless others by sharing with them ‘God’s Way to Ultimate Health.”
Hannes P., Gootfontien, Namibia, Africa
“I want to share with you what I believe is good news. My husband is 53 years old and was diagnosed with stage 4 rectal cancer two years ago. Initially we did some low dose chemo and radiation treatments in preparation to remove a rectal tumor.
“While recovering from the chemo and radiation and before the surgery, we read your book ‘God’s Way to Ultimate Health.’ We prayed about it and were convinced that we should stop medical treatments and that The Hallelujah Diet was the way to go. My husband refused further treatments and had the port removed from his chest.
“My husband did not follow the diet very well for the first year. When scanned one year after refusing treatments, we learned that the cancer had spread to his lungs. This motivated my husband to go faithfully on The Hallelujah Diet. He has now been on The Hallelujah Recovery Diet about 15 months.
“We learned this week the cancer has spread into the bone. I asked the doctor if my husband’s cancer had grown as expected, or faster or slower than expected. He said that for someone with metastatic cancer, the kind my husband has, it has grown remarkably slower than expected.
“That greatly encouraged us because we were beginning to think that his cancer was just too far gone for nutrition to work. Since attending the Women’s Retreat there at Hallelujah Acres in October, I learned about green smoothie. We have added two or three green smoothies to The Hallelujah Recovery Diet. We now have renewed hope for the healing of this cancer – at least keeping it at bay. The Hallelujah Diet has significantly reduced the progression of the cancer.
“I know that the diet has allowed my husband to maintain a good quality of life over what he would have had if he had accepted the chemotherapy. One of the greatest risks with chemotherapy is that it does so much damage to the immune system … resulting in death. This has happened to many [people], including folks we’ve know that were declared ‘cancer free’ just before dying from the infection picked up in the hospital.
“My husband is the pastor of a small church here in Virginia. In spite of the cancer, he is still able to preach every Sunday morning and evening service as well as the mid-week service. We have two teenagers still at home and a grandson. We are so thankful to God for you Dr. Malkmus and Hallelujah Acres and for all the research and testimonies and encouragement you share.
“By the way, I have also been on The Hallelujah Diet and have lost 35 pounds and my health is now wonderful. I walk 3 miles 3 to 4 times and week and praise God every step of the way.”
Debbie S., Virginia
Cancer, carrot juice, and living life to the fullest
Nov 22nd
The below letters are representative of the letter I received this past week. Trust you find them both of interest and inspirational. Please keep those letters coming, as they greatly encourage me and keep me keeping on for Jesus.
“I adopted the Genesis 1:29 diet after reading Rev. Malkmus’ book: The Hallelujah Diet. After being diagnosed with cancer, I opted for The Hallelujah Diet in October 2009, rather than conventional therapy, and am now cancer free! To God be the glory!”
Yolanda H., California
“I just wanted to say ‘Thank You’ for writing the article on carrots. When your article arrived, I had just finished trying to talk my husband, who has cancer, into drinking carrot juice. After reading your article he started drinking it every day. I’m so excited! I believe in the Hallelujah Diet. Thanks a million. I’ll let you know how my husband does.”
Polly B.
“I was diagnosed with a 5-centimeter mass in the left breast last month. I do not plan to have chemotherapy, radiation or surgery.
I am 81 years old and do not want to spend my remaining years in a cancer treatment facility trying to survive the treatments. I believe the Lord has a desire to heal me with The Hallelujah Diet.
After just four weeks on The Hallelujah Diet, I have lost 10 pounds, feel great, my blood sugar has dropped to normal range, and my high blood pressure has dropped as has my cholesterol.
I feel wonderful, and am taking water aerobics three days a week. I am drinking lots of carrot juice and am thriving and loving life.
Thank you and best wishes for a wonderful holiday season.”
Faye F., Texas
“I am a graduate of a Hallelujah Acres Lifestyle Center. Thank you for the Health Tip article on carrots. Thanks to the article I am back juicing carrots again. Thank you for all you do.”
Jon, Montana
“Dear Rev. George, I had a great time at your 2-Day Workshop this past week, and want to thank you for your time. I am very inspired by your words, your story, the life that you lead, and the people and lessons that you teach!
The world is becoming a grander place to live because of what you do and I am so happy to be a part of it. Thank you so very much and I will see you in March 2011 to finish my Health Minister Training!”
Chris H.
“Hello Pastor Malkmus, THANK YOU so much for all you are doing there at Hallelujah Acres. I wish I lived close enough to be able to attend some of your seminars and retreats.
I think you are doing a wonderful work for the Lord and may He bless all of you for your tireless efforts to help God’s people. I was introduced to The Hallelujah Diet in 2009 by a church member and been interested in your work ever since.
I have just started using a Hurom juicer, and since I raise my own carrots here on the farm, I have a fresh, organic supply.I appreciated your timely article on carrot juice which I received just as I was finishing drinking a fresh glass of carrot juice.
Sometimes I feel very far away from resources that would benefit me, but I am truly grateful for the internet access I have. We live in a rural area of North Dakota and am blessed to live where I can grow a lot of my own organic food, but wintertime is a different story.
My desire is to be all that God wants me to be – and thus want to experience vibrant health so that I can better serve God. Your magazine and website have been a blessing in my journey. A sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to you, Pastor Malkmus!”
Linda W., North Dakota
“Dr. George, your teachings have strengthened what I already knew about natural wellness. I am a certified Alternative Natural Wellness Teacher. Now I would like to be trained as a Hallelujah Acres Health Minister as well.”
Adeola A., Saudi Arabia
