The World’s Diet – Dangerously High In Refined Sugar

Over the last several weeks, we have been learning about the shortcomings and dangers of the world’s diet.
In this Health Tip we are going to examine a substance that makes up a high percentage of the world’s diet — and discover why it is so dangerous to your health.
Refined Sugar Is A Dead, Fiberless Poison
Refined sugar is not a food substance at all. It is a dangerous poison that is consumed by almost every man, woman, and child, in large quantities, on a daily basis.
It is a dead (contains no enzymatic activity), fiberless, and good-for-nothing killer that creates monumental problems within the body.
Refined sugar is something God never intended our physical bodies to consume.
The only sugar God designed our physical bodies to ever have to deal with are the natural sugars found in the living (enzymatically alive), raw fruits and vegetables God created for us in the Garden!
Only 100 years ago, the average annual intake of refined sugar was approximately 5 pounds per person per year. Today, the average annual intake of refined sugar is around 172 pounds per person per year.
This means that if a person is consuming the Standard American Diet (SAD), that person is placing into their God-made physical bodies approximately 50 teaspoons of refined sugar, each and every day of their life.
If a person lives to the age of 80, they will have during their lifetime placed into their body some 13,760 pounds of refined sugar.
My friends that means that the average person on the “world’s diet” consumes nearly 7 tons of refined sugar in their lifetime.
That amount, 13,760 pounds, equals 2,752 five-pound bags of refined sugar.
Can you visualize what 2,752 five pound bags of refined sugar looks like when in the grocery store there are usually no more than ten 5-pound bags on the shelf?
Refined Sugar Is A Dead Food
All refined sugars originated as a natural, unrefined sugar in a living plant. As such, natural sugars contain a complete complement of enzymes, nutrients and fiber, just as God intended.
By the time natural sugar reaches its refined sugar stage, all nutrients have been removed, all enzymes destroyed, and all fiber removed.
As such, refined sugar is a very dead and toxic substance.
Let’s look for a moment at the process of taking sugar cane or sugar beet in its nutrient rich, fiber rich, enzymatically alive state as found in the plant, into a refined, fiberless, lifeless, nutrient-devoid product.
The following information was taken from a newsletter written by Charlotte Gerson of the world-famous Gerson Clinic:
“Sugar is a basic element in starchy food; however, processed sugar is a completely different matter. The sugar we purchase in the supermarket for personal consumption is processed sugar. This kind of sugar is heated up in chalk-milk, so that calcium and protein are extracted. After the process, it becomes alkaloid, destroying all vitamin content. In the second phase the sugar is mixed with acid chalk, carbonic gas, sulfur dioxide and finally with natrium bicarbonate. The mixture is cooked and cooled off several times and thereafter crystallized and centrifuged. The dead mass is then treated with strontium hydroxide. Subsequently it arrives at the refinery where it is passed over chalk carbon acid to clean it. Dark coloring is removed by adding sulfuric acid and then it is filtered with bone charcoal. Finally, it is colored with Indathrenblue or the highly toxic Ultramarine. This product’s chemical composition is C12H22O11, which you can buy in shops as ‘pure cane’ sugar.”
Refined Sugar Is Fragmented
Through heating and mechanical and chemical processing, all vitamins, proteins, fats, enzymes and fiber – indeed, every single nutrient is removed until nothing but pure white sugar, pure ‘naked calories,’ pure refined carbohydrate remains.
Sixty-four food elements are destroyed in the processing. Fragmented foods like these set up nutritional imbalances that precipitate health problems galore.
Refined Sugar Is Highly Acidic
Like animal source foods and refined grains, refined sugar is also extremely ‘acid forming.’
In fact, refined sugar is possibly the most acidic substance one can consume. Soft drinks, which usually contain at least 10 teaspoons of refined sugar, have a pH between 2.8 and 3.5, making it the greatest source of acid we can place into our bodies.
In an effort to neutralize all of this acid, the body takes vital alkaline minerals, calcium being the most plentiful, from the body’s bone structure in an effort to neutralize the acidity. The acidity found in all animal source foods and refined grains cause the body to lose calcium as well.
This highly refined acidic sugar intake, along with the consumption of acidic animal and acidic grain source foods, causes the body to remove so much calcium from the bones and teeth that the bones become osteoporotic (porous) and teeth decay.
Refined Sugar Creates Blood Sugar Disorders
One pound of apples contains 263 calories, whereas one pound of candy contains 1800 calories.
Refined sugar is concentrated far beyond what the God-created human body was designed to process at one time, while the body processes the much smaller amount of natural sugar found in apples just fine.
If a body is going to survive, it must find a way to somehow cope with the incredibly high amounts of sugar found in refined sugar. The body learns how to cope with it, but in so doing, often creates two new physical problems – diabetes and hypoglycemia.
Diabetes
The primary cause of diabetes is the fat contained in animal products which coats the cells and hinders the insulin from entering the cell.
But when a diabetic consumes refined sugar, the pancreas has difficulty producing adequate insulin when the blood sugar rises. Concentrated amounts of sugar cause a rapid rise in blood sugar.
Chronic intake of refined sugar eventually exhausts the pancreas as it tries to compensate. Thus the diabetic is condemned to having to take ever-increasing amounts of insulin to compensate.
Diabetes is the #3 killer disease in America, preceded only by cardiovascular related problems and cancer.
Hypoglycemia
Hypoglycemia is the flip side of diabetes. Hypoglycemia occurs when the body still has a fairly strong pancreas. The body overreacts to concentrated sugar intake and releases too much insulin from the pancreas. Blood sugar levels then plummet far below the normal stable level.
The suffering hypoglycemic often experiences fatigue, headaches; mental depression, and irritability.
Depression is often dealt with by the intake of more refined sugar, and so the hypoglycemic is caught in an endless cycle that causes the pancreas to wear out from constant over stimulation.
This often results in diabetes, because now the sufferer cannot produce sufficient insulin for normal metabolic activities.
Refined Sugar Promotes Emotional Instability
After a “sugarholic” has consumed a box of candy — or bag of cookies, or any large amount of refined sugar — they know how self-abused and depressed they feel.
Indeed, studies reveal a strong link between juvenile and adult criminal offenses and sugar addiction.
Similar research reveals a link between mental illness and sugar abuse. Hypoglycemic reactions, for the very sensitive consumer, promote extreme irrationality and emotional instability, which can lead to aggressiveness.
Studies reveal that sugar may be as involved in mental illness, divorce, and crime as alcohol has been found to be.
Refined sugar is one of the major contributing factors to depression!
ADD and ADHD are running rampant among our children and even some adults!
Isn’t it a paradox that these emotional problems, caused by a very toxic and poisonous addictive drug called refined sugar, are then treated with another poison — like Ritalin or Prozac!
How sad!
If your child is having a behavioral problem, why not consider removing all refined sugar in their diet instead?
Refined Sugar Contributes To Heart Disease
Animal fat is not the only contributing factor in heart disease.
Those on a highly refined sugar diet show significantly higher levels of fat in their blood than those who eat no refined sugar.
This high fat content in the blood is directly related to the development of plaque build-up within the arteries, then to hardening of the arteries, and ultimately to heart attacks and strokes.
Refined Sugar Leads To Addiction And Weight Gain
Refined sugar is highly caloric in its pure form.
But then it is often made worse by combining it with something containing high fat, like shortening, along with some salt.
This produces a tempting goodie like candy, cookies, cake, pie, fudge, a donut, or cinnamon bun.
Often these high sugar foods are consumed with a high calorie sugar drink, like soda pop.
All of this sugar contributes to weight gain.
If a person consumes just one 12-ounce can of soda pop a day for one year, that 10 teaspoons of sugar found in each can of soda could add 12 pounds to their weight in just one year.
When these excess calories are not burned for energy, they are stored as fat, contributing to the obesity epidemic we are seeing today among children and adults alike. Obesity is an underlying factor in not only cardiovascular disease but most other chronic diseases.
Furthermore, because of the way it plays havoc with emotions, refined sugar is highly addicting – it works exactly like a drug. This means that once a sugarholic sufferer has given into this crystalline sweetness, they can’t stop consuming.
Refined sugar is every bit as addictive as nicotine and alcohol and withdrawal from it can be as difficult as withdrawing from cocaine!
We have found that when a person decides to adopt The Hallelujah Diet, they usually do not have a great deal of difficulty eliminating the animal products, white flour products, table salt, or even caffeine (which is another addictive drug).
Many find that the most difficult substance to eliminate is refined sugar.
Sugar has a powerful addictive influence upon many people.
Have you ever noticed that children, who are allowed to have candy, are always asking for more?
They are never satisfied no matter how much you give them! This is because their little bodies have become addicted to sugar and their bodies are screaming for a fix.
NOTE – For those parents who would like to have a better understanding of how refined sugar is affecting their child’s behavior, I would like to recommend a book written by Barbara Reed Stitt titled: “Food and Behavior.”
Refined Sugar Compromises The Immune System
Let’s remember that the immune system is what God built into your body to protect you from the germs, viruses, and bacteria of this world.
The immune system is our first line of defense!
But refined sugar is an immune system suppressant — it knocks out this first line of defense.
That is why those who consume refined sugar find themselves susceptible to colds, the flu, and all sorts of other physical breakdowns, while those who consume The Hallelujah Diet, which contains no refined sugar, rarely if ever experiences a cold, the flu, or other physical breakdowns.
This editor hasn’t experienced a cold or the flu since eliminating refined sugar and adopting a primarily raw, plant-based diet over 35 years ago!

Conclusion
Refined sugar and products made with it become the cause or contributing cause of many of the physical problems being experienced today.
Refined sugar products are all dead, fiberless, and following animal source foods, are the second most popular of the deadly, killer foods of our day.
No wonder God says in Hosea 4:6:
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
Is it not a sad commentary, that instead of dealing with our physical problems by eliminating their causes, we deal with symptoms?
We take a poisonous medication instead. It will never fix the problem — but rather exacerbate it!
Almost every physical problem we experience in a lifetime, other than accidents, is because we have failed to nourish our physical bodies the way God intended in Genesis 1:29!
“AND GOD SAID, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed (vegetable), which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat (food).”

From Asthma to Cancer and Osteoporosis

I wish you could sit where I sit where I sit or stand where I stand for just one day to hear and read the incredible testimonies that are shared with me daily.
Testimonies come from across America and around the world telling of how adopting The Hallelujah Diet has improved people’s health and in some instances saved their lives.

I have been on the Hallelujah Acres Diet and Lifestyle for nearly six years. My reason for changing my diet and lifestyle was an aggressive cancer diagnosis.
Well, to make a long story short, as a result of declining all traditional medical treatments and making the diet and lifestyle change, today at the age of 70 years I am still alive, well, and active.
I find it so upsetting that The American Cancer Society is still telling people after a cancer diagnosis that adopting a plant-based diet is a very dangerous thing to do.
Because of personal experience I know what they are saying is not true, but it does make me wonder how the American Cancer Society can get by with denying this provable truth.

Hi Rev. Malkmus I am a cancer survivor as a result of using The Hallelujah Diet as my cancer treatment.
However my daughter went the medical route after a leukemia diagnosis. Within just a few hours of diagnosis, because the doctors scared her concerning alternatives, she was rushed into treatment without being given opportunity to consider other options.
The doctors gave her both chemotherapy and radiation. Now she is trying to recover from all these medical treatments.
As a result of these treatments, her thyroid and adrenals have been severely compromised and she is extremely tired all of the time. Can she use The Hallelujah Diet to help cleanse her body from all those toxins the doctors placed in her body and rebuild her immune system?

Dear Rev. Malkmus, I deeply appreciated your Health Tip article regarding the myth surrounding osteoporosis. You put it so clearly that the allopathic medical field is relying on SYMPTOMS and not CAUSES.
It’s so sad that alternatives to this wrong-headed system can’t be tolerated. But oh wait – I know why – you can’t patent a carrot nor can you make money promoting a diet change.
I am in complete agreement with you and will spread your Health Tips with all of my friends who suffer needlessly at the hands of the medical community.
We need to stop the AMA from being the only ‘experts’ in town! Doctors are not taught anything about nutrition and are at least 10 years behind your position and what you teach. Thank you for being that voice ‘crying in the wilderness’!

Milking the Osteoporosis Myth

This week we are going to tackle another physical problem affecting an ever increasing number of Americans.
Osteoporosis is a disorder in which the bones become increasingly porous, brittle, and subject to fracture, owing to loss of calcium and other mineral components.
As we did with our analysis of arthritis and asthma, let’s conduct a little contest between the world’s wisdom and God’s wisdom.
Some Osteoporosis Statistics
- Osteoporosis causes over 1.5 million fractures each year in the USA
- Osteoporosis causes over 300,000 hip fractures each year in the USA
- Osteoporosis causes over 700,000 vertebral fractures each year in the USA
- Osteoporosis causes over 250,000 wrist fractures each year in the USA
- Osteoporosis accounts for 70% of all fractures for people over 45 in the USA
What Modern Medicine Says About Osteoporosis
National Osteoporosis Foundation says: “Osteoporosis is a largely PREVENTABLE and treatable disease . . . The National Osteoporosis Foundation is working to prevent osteoporosis, promote bone health, improve the lives of those affected by the disease and find a cure. Your GIFT will help us pursue these goals and support our vital programs for research . . . Together we can work to make bone health a reality and lifelong priority for all individuals.”
EDITOR’S NOTE: Why would the National Osteoporosis Foundation tell us in one breath that “Osteoporosis is largely preventable . . .” and then in the next breath say “Your gift will help . . . support our vital programs for research?”
Since previous research has obviously already revealed how to PREVENT osteoporosis, if the foundation really wanted people to overcome osteoporosis, wouldn’t you think they would tell people of this research, instead of continually asking for more money to support more RESEARCH?
Mayo Clinic says: “The strength of your bones depends on their size and density; bone density depends in part on the amount of calcium, phosphorus and other minerals bones contain. When your bones contain fewer minerals than normal, they’re less strong and eventually lose their internal supporting structure. Scientists have yet to learn all the reasons why this occurs . . .”
EDITOR’S NOTE: The science is available to any and all who would like to access it. If scientists were truly seeking to “learn all the reasons why this [osteoporosis] occurs” do you not think they could have found that reason by now?
I am not a scientist, but I do know enough to seek and find answers that are so readily available.
U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) says: “Reducing Your Risk: Many factors can affect your chances of developing osteoporosis. The good news is that you control some of them. Even though you can’t change your genes, you can still lower your risk with attention to certain lifestyle changes that can help build and maintain bone mass.”
EDITORS NOTE: If the FDA is aware, as they claim, that “certain lifestyle changes can help build and maintain bone mass”, why do they not then tell the American people what those “lifestyle changes” are?
To know and not tell is criminal! And friend, “Osteoporosis” is NOT in “your genes”!
Why A Cause For Osteoporosis Has Not Been Found
This editor spent hours visiting dozens of websites providing information concerning osteoporosis from both the scientific and medical points of view.
In my entire search, not one website even hinted what the CAUSE of osteoporosis might be.
As with almost every physical problem today, the modern medicine fails to deal with CAUSES, rather dealing almost exclusively with symptoms. My Bible tells me that “THE CURSE CAUSELESS SHALL NOT COME.” In other words, the curse (which is the symptom) will not come, without a CAUSE.
Why does does modern medicine do this when, by simply removing the CAUSE, almost all symptoms, and thus almost all physical problems could be eliminated?
My dear friend, if there were no SYMPTOMS to do research on, or to treat, or to raise money for, there would be no need for most scientists, doctors, drug companies, and foundations!
Follow the money trail… Dealing with symptoms costs Americans $2.7 TRILLION annually in so-called “health care” costs.
As I have said so many times before, we do not have a “health care” system in America; we have a “disease care” system.
If we want to eliminate the need for this disease care system, along with all the suffering and high costs associated with it, all we need to do is eliminate the CAUSES of these physical problems!
Tens of thousands of people have written to tell us that after eliminating the CAUSE of their physical problem and adopting The Hallelujah Diet, they have been set free from over 170 different physical problems.
These testimonies continue to come in daily from around the world!
What Causes Osteoporosis?
In Proverbs 26:2, we learn that: “the curse causeless shall not come.”
And so it is with osteoporosis! Without a CAUSE, osteoporosis will not occur! And what is the CAUSE of osteoporosis?
Osteoporosis is caused by consuming of foods that are highly acidic!
That shouldn’t be too hard to understand when you realize that . . .
- God designed the body to function properly only in an ALKALINE environment.
- Consuming ACID foods and consuming ACID drinks, causes the body to seek for something within the body that is highly alkaline to neutralize that acidity.
Calcium is very alkaline and plentiful within the body, especially within the bones.
In an effort to neutralize an acidic diet, the body starts extracting calcium from the bones. Over time, this results in lower bone density, and ultimately, osteoporosis.
Which Foods And Drinks Are Acidic?
- ANIMAL FOODS – All animal source foods, organic or not, are highly acidic. After digestion, they leave an acidity the body must contend with. Highly acidic animal source foods would include all flesh, eggs, dairy, including yogurt and cheese.
- SOFT DRINKS – Soft drinks are the most acidic substances a person can place into their body, with a pH in the 2.8 and 3.5 ranges. Neutral pH is 7.0 and the pH in the blood is 7.4. More on this later! I’ve been told that some soft drinks are so highly acidic they can actually dissolve a builder’s nail.
- SUGAR – Refined sugar is extremely acidic. The average American consumes some 172 pounds of it each and every year. That amount of sugar converts to over 50 teaspoons of sugar per person, per day, leading to acid build up within the body, and ultimately lowers bone density.
- SOME GRAINS – Wheat is probably the most acidic of all the grains. A large intake of wheat, especially refined wheat products such as white bread, white rolls, donuts and pastas contributes to the acidity of the body.
Why An Alkaline Diet Is Critical To Good Health
A highly acidic diet is not only the primary cause of osteoporosis, arthritis, and gout, but also numerous other physical problems.
Disease proliferates in an acid environment, while in an alkaline environment suppresses disease. On the pH scale, neutral is 7.0, while the pH of our blood is 7.4, which is slightly alkaline.
The Hallelujah Diet is an alkalizing diet and stands in sharp contrast to the highly acidic Standard American Diet consumed by most people today.
For good health, the body must maintain an alkaline environment! The importance of keeping an alkaline pH is critical for the blood. Few people realize that if the pH of the blood drops below 7.0, that person will die.

Is Distilled Water More Dangerous Than Tap Water?

Recently, one of the most popular website health advocates in America wrote in his newsletter that “distilled water is more dangerous than tap water.”
After reading the article — and knowing that the information shared was far from accurate — I asked Michael Donaldson, PhD., Research Director here at Hallelujah Acres to respond. Here is what Dr. Donaldson said:
Some health advocates still claim that distilled water is dangerous to our health and discourage people from using their distillers. One advocate even said that distilled water is worse for you than the tap water it started with. While there is a sliver of truth there, the whole article puts distilled water in a false light. Such health advocacy is irresponsible. Here is the rest of the story…
Two main issues need to be addressed here: (1) the co-purification of organic contaminants with water distillation, and (2) the long-term health effects of drinking low-mineral water. You will see that using a distiller is still the best, most consistent way of getting clean, pure water.
It is true that some organic chemicals can evaporate with steam during the distillation process. All distiller manufacturers are aware of this issue; it is not a new development. The solution has been in place for many years, including the distillers made by WaterWise, the distillers distributed by Hallelujah Acres.
Organic compounds that have a very low boiling point escape through the vent hole in the tube that collects the steam out of the boiling chamber. They will evaporate long before any steam is generated and collected as pure water. Organic compounds that have a boiling point very close to that of water will be easily absorbed in the post-distillation carbon filter (made of granulated coconut shell charcoal). Since the water is very pure and hot, the absorption capacity of the carbon filter is not lost to fouling due to bacteria, viruses, spores, or minerals.
In situations where you know you have high levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), a pre-distillation carbon filter can be used to eliminate the problem before it gets into the air.
So, VOCs are really a non-issue with water distillers. This argument is just a straw man tactic.
Now, the second issue of drinking low-mineral water (which includes distilled and reverse osmosis water) has been thoroughly addressed before by Hallelujah Acres. You can download the full research report here.
There are some potential adverse effects of drinking distilled water. It may pull a SMALL amount of minerals from the body. For most people this will not be a problem. For a person with marginal mineral intake, this could lead to long-term negative health effects. For people interested in long-term optimal health, losing a small amount of minerals from the body might be a concern.
The best solution to the low-mineral (distilled) water issue is to add a concentrated solution that remineralizes, alkalizes, and lowers the surface tension of the water. This solution is called WaterMax and is available from Hallelujah Acres. (Just 1 tsp of WaterMax remineralizes and alkalizes a whole gallon of distilled drinking water.)
When WaterMax is added, the resulting water has ionic minerals in it that the body can fully utilize, unlike the rock minerals that the water originally had in it. WaterMax water is alkaline, with a pH of about 8.2. This is not too alkaline for long term health, as it comes from very bioavailable calcium and magnesium ionic salts. The surface tension is lower, improving the water’s ability to hydrate thirsty body tissues.
Another good solution [if not using WaterMax] is to squeeze some fresh lemon juice into a glass of distilled water. This will remineralize the water and add some alkaline minerals to it as well, along with a great taste.
When all of the options for purifying water are considered, the best solution is to use a distiller in combination with an activated carbon filter. To get truly pure water, we want to remove chlorine or chloramine, fluoride, arsenic, lead, industrial organic pollutants, pharmaceutical residues, viruses and bacteria, and rock minerals from our drinking water.
There isn’t a single process that does all of this, but in tandem you can produce pure water. Activated carbon does an excellent job with organic contaminants, but doesn’t do much with mineral or metal contaminants. Distillers do an excellent job with minerals, viruses, and bacteria.
Certain filter resins remove some minerals (arsenic, fluoride, lead) under acidic conditions. Reverse osmosis units rely on activated carbon to remove the organic contaminants. These units do purify the water, but bacterial fouling can be a problem, resulting in reduced performance over time.
The best method is to combine an activated carbon filter and distiller to fully remove all of these contaminants. This method yields pure water consistently.
My Experience With Distilled Water
In 1976 I was told I had colon cancer. My mother had just died of colon cancer after going the traditional medical route. I went looking for a different option and heeded the advice of my good friend Brother Lester Roloff. He told me to change my diet rather than accept the medical modalities of chemo, radiation, and surgery.
After consuming the traditional Standard American Diet (SAD) for the previous 42 years of my life, I started consuming a 100% plant-based diet. It was a diet very similar to the diet God gave Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden in Genesis 1:29.
Brother Roloff also encouraged me to consume lots of freshly extracted vegetable juices because if I wanted to get well I needed to eliminate the things that had caused and were feeding the cancer: all animal sourced foods (both flesh and dairy), refined sugar, white flour, and table salt.
I took Brother Roloff’s advice, made the diet change and almost immediately started to get well.
At about the same time, someone else encouraged me to change the type of water I was drinking. For the previous 42 years of my life I had been drinking tap water, never thinking it could be potentially dangerous and harmful to my health.
The type of water I was encouraged to consume was distilled water. Wanting to do all I could to help my body recover from that cancer, I bought a large, square edged (hard to clean), stainless steel water distiller and started making my own distilled water.
Today, after 35 years of drinking distilled water, I am well and 77 years of age. Has my personal experience with distilled water proven to be the hazard that this popular health advocate claims? Absolutely not.
One of these claims regarding distilled water was: “ Long-term use can invite health problems, because its minerals are evaporated out. So to try to maintain mineral balance, it sucks minerals out of your body.”
This is not a true statement! Distillation does not cause the “minerals to be evaporated out.” Quite the opposite; these inorganic minerals are LEFT BEHIND in the boiling pot. Only the water is evaporated out. This is a GOOD thing, since inorganic minerals are the ones that cause kidney and gall stones and join with cholesterol to form plaque and hardening of the arteries.
This health advocate also claims that distilled water “sucks minerals out of your body”, thus contributing to mineral loss from the bones, resulting in weak and porous bones that will easily fracture. This has not been my personal experience with distilled water.
Several years ago, after drinking exclusively distilled water for over 30 years, I fell from the top of a ladder. From where my head was when I started the fall to where my head landed below on a railroad tie was 16 feet. I did manage to break the fall somewhat with my arms as I was landing.
If my bones had been demineralized and weakened by consuming all that distilled water over the previous 30 years, I should have had multiple fractures. But I didn’t. My eye did swell shut for a few days, but I did not have a single broken bone — and I was well into my senior years at the time of the fall.
Rhonda’s Bones Are Strong, Too
Just a few weeks ago, a pick-up truck here at Hallelujah Acres suddenly backed up as Rhonda was walking behind it. The truck hit her and she flew to the ground, bouncing her head on the concrete and landing on her hip with full force. She walked away with some scratches and slight bleeding — but not a broken bone.
Rhonda is now 65 years old and has been drinking distilled water exclusively since we were married nearly 20 years ago. We hear constant medical news about how easily older folks break their bones (especially hips). So how is it that Rhonda could walk away from this horrific impact, especially since she had been drinking distilled water all these years that supposedly demineralize and weaken her bones?
The Real Reason Bones Become Brittle
It’s not distilled water that demineralizes the bones and makes them subject to easy fracture, but rather an acidic diet. Animal flesh, dairy, sugar, and refined wheat flours are all acidic. In an effort to neutralize this acidity, the body draws alkaline minerals from the bones to neutralize the acidity.
An acid diet is the cause of low bone density, not distilled water! If distilled water was the cause of low bone density and porous bones, both Rhonda and I would have suffered multiple fractures from the falls we experienced. Obviously our bones were extremely strong to survive these falls without fracture. How do we account for this?
The Hallelujah Diet Builds Bone Density
The Hallelujah Diet removes all highly acidic substances. In other words, we stop consuming all these acid forming foods. As a result, the body has no need to remove the alkalizing minerals from the bones to neutralize the acid. Thus bone density is not only maintained – it is increased!

Distilled Water Does Not Spell Disaster
The highly acidic Standard American Diet (SAD) along with a sedentary lifestyle is a prescription for disaster — in terms of overall health as well as bone structure. Conversely, a mostly raw, 100% plant-based diet including plenty of vegetable juices, daily exercise, and purified distilled water builds a strong immune system, strong bones, and a long, healthy life.

Broken Bones Do Not Have To Be a Part of the Aging Process

Dr. Russell Blaylock (who has spoken at Hallelujah Acres several times) writes a monthly publication titled The Blaylock Wellness Report. In the April 2010 issue of his publication, on page 5, Dr. Blaylock had the following to say about broken bones:
“Many people feel that broken bones and aging go hand in hand. This could not be further from the truth in many cases. Rather, broken bones are a sign of a sedentary lifestyle. Get moving! The more you move (walk, bike, hike, garden) the more your leg muscles will strengthen and the more you can rely on them to support you as you age. If retirement to you means a permanent seat in front of the TV, your chances of breaking your hip or even worse are greatly increased.”
EDITORS NOTE: In Health Tip #650, dated May 4, 2010, this editor talked about this issue of broken bones. In this article I had the following to say about exercise:
“Include in each day’s activities a time for stretching, resistance, load bearing and aerobic exercising. (I personally try to include all of these exercises into my busy schedule each and every day of my life.)”
However, in this article I talked about more than just exercise as a means of obtaining or maintaining strong bones by stating, “osteoporosis is the cruel result of an acid diet”
“The removal of calcium from the bones is a slow process, but over time, if the person continues consuming a highly acidifying diet, the bones thin, often resulting in a person falling and breaking a bone, or possibly for no apparent reason a bone will just break.
“Probably the most feared of this bone thinning process called osteoporosis are hip fractures. Fractures of the wrists and even vertebrae are also related to osteoporosis. In America, over 70% of all the fractures occurring in people over the age of 45 are caused by osteoporosis (low bone density).
“In fact, some 1.3 million osteoporosis related fractures occur in the United States each and every year. In 1995, the annual medical cost for osteoporotic fractures among those over the age of 65 was 13.8 billion dollars. However, in addition to cost, these fractures, especially hip fractures, can significantly decrease quality of life and often set into motion a rapid deterioration of health leading to death.
“And to think that if only that person had not consumed all those acid foods and drugs, and rather consumed a plant based (Genesis 1:29) diet, along with some resistant and weight bearing exercises, this type of problem would never have occurred.”
So in Health Tip #650, not only did I recommend that a person get their body moving through daily exercise, but also made the following suggestions:
“Following are things a person must do if they desire a strong, high density bone structure.
- Change diet from a high animal based, sugar laden diet, to a 100% plant based diet. All high protein, acid forming foods should be totally eliminated and replaced with a highly alkalizing diet such as The Hallelujah Diet. The most alkalizing foods are your green leafy vegetables and cereal grasses. For instance, a cup of kale contains 179 mg of calcium; turnip greens 249 mg; collard greens 357 mg. (I have been on this alkalizing diet for the past 34 years.)
- Include in each day’s activities a time for stretching, resistance, load bearing and aerobic exercising. . . . (See above)
- Make sure to get abundant sunshine or else take a vitamin D3 supplement, because the body cannot utilize calcium, no matter how much is in the body if it does not have adequate vitamin D required to absorb the calcium. (I personally take 5,000mg of vitamin D daily, plus try to get as much sunshine on my body each day as practical.)”
Maintaining high bone density is the responsibility of each one of us. No one else can do it for us – not even our doctor. I will leave you with this verse found in Galatians 6:7:
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
