A Little Change Can Do A Lot!
Jan 20th
I so appreciate the constant flow of testimonies, telling of improved health as a result of adopting The Hallelujah Diet. So many days they make my day! Please keep them coming — I read each one.
“Hi George, your Hallelujah Diet is the most awesome diet I have ever been on or read about. Please keep those Health Tips and magazines coming! They are great! Since adopting The Hallelujah Diet I have lost 14 pounds and feel better than I ever I have ever felt before.”

“Hello Rev. Malkmus, I recently was given a copy of your book ‘Why Christians Get Sick’ by my great-grandmother who wanted to make sure that I not only had the book but that I read it. She is over 100 years old and claims that the health principles contained in your book are responsible for her long life.
Well, I just read the book from beginning to end and am inspired to make some healthy changes. I am 36 years old and in pretty good health, but do have some physical and emotional problems that could use a little improving.
I agree with you wholeheartedly that most Americans need to consume more raw fruits and vegetables. Thank you for your dedication to health.”

“My brother died of a massive heart attack at the age of 68. My sister, also in her late 60s, currently has lung cancer. I am also in my late 60s, but because of a change in diet and lifestyle have seen my physical problems go away.
I started out by following the teachings of Dr. Campbell and Dr. Esselstyn, and was following Dr. Esselstyn’s diet when I came upon The Hallelujah Diet. The results of making this diet change have been phenomenal! My cholesterol levels now range between 128 and 140, with my LDL (to the amazement of my doctor) is 42 and my HDL 48.
Before the diet change I was a diabetic and on insulin, but as a result of the diet change I have been able to throw away all diabetic medication and my A1C is 5.2, again, to the amazement of my doctor.
I am thrilled to have learned how I can protect myself against heart attack and stroke and make my body disease proof. Blessed be the name of the Lord who has chosen to reveal to me both spiritual life and physical health. Thank you for the work you are doing in helping so many and may God bless you and yours.”

“I have tremendous respect for your mission in life. My wife (who is battling cancer) and I spent five days at a Hallelujah Acres Lifestyle Center. I have a question: ‘I am 71 years old and in exceptional health. However, I take over 25 supplements each day. I need advice as to what supplements I should take in order to remain healthy. I’m sure this question is one many others have as well and would join with me in appreciating your response.”
Jim H.
EDITOR RESPONDS – The need for supplementation varies from one individual to another depending upon their diet and personal health situation. Most people on The Hallelujah Diet do not need aggressive supplementation.
Basic areas for consideration for most people include obtaining adequate B-12, Omega 3 fats (especially DHA), and Vitamin D3 (blood levels should be 60 ng/ml or higher). Enzymes would also be helpful when consuming cooked foods. Some folks, especially those who consume chlorinated water or have taken antibiotics (which destroy friendly bacteria) need probiotic supplementation to restore the friendly bacteria in the gut. BarleyMax is a fundamental component of the diet and is not considered a supplement because it is a whole living food.
Please remember that I am not a medical doctor and therefore cannot give medical advice.
Rave Reviews For China Study Response
Oct 12th
It has been a long time since I received so much response to an article that appeared in my weekly Health Tip. Yet they continue to come in with regard to my article responding to Dr. M’s attack on Dr. T. Colin Campbell’s China Study. Following are just a few of those letters.
“Thank you so much for clarifying the issues Dr. M raised against The China Study. I had high regard for Dr. M until he published this article. It is so sad that he doesn’t understand detox. For those who have read Dr. M’s article against The China Study, Dr. Malkmus’ clarification is a must read.” Day T.
“I have just read your defense of The China Study. Thanks for the strong defense. Thanks also for the clear and simple explanations that common people can understand.”
Myrtle W.
“Thank you, Rev. Malkmus, for explaining the fallacies in Dr. M’s arguments against The China Study! I also thought Dr. M overlooked the entire premise of The China Study when he dismissed it as only ‘observational.’ He overlooked the fact that they turned cancer on and off in the laboratory using animal protein (casein). They repeated the studies over and over using the aflatoxin and animal protein.
The China Study amazed me. When I first began The Hallelujah Diet six years ago I didn’t really understand why dairy and animal flesh were so dangerous. After I had read The China Study I understood and could articulate the reason why to others. I respect much of what Dr. M says, and he brings great studies forward to educate people. However, he totally gets it wrong with animal protein, and his ‘Nutritional Typing’ is laughable. I agree with you when you point out his words, ‘Well if I don’t feel good after a meal . . . that must not be the food for my nutritional type.’ It is important to keep eating plant-based foods and over time the detoxing runs its course.”
Rayann M.
“I knew exactly who you were talking about in your response to the challenge by a Dr. M to The China Study. I was a subscriber to his newsletter until he wrote such negative things about The China Study. I hadn’t even finished reading the entire article before I clicked ‘unsubscribe.’
I’m always looking for health information that has been clearly researched and is biblical. Dr. M is often lacking in this area and I have viewed him as a college ‘preppie’ salesman as he is constantly promoting his products. I at one time took his ‘Nutritional Typing’ test. His Nutritional Typing doesn’t make sense. He states that if your diet makes you feel sluggish, tired, ill, and depressed you are on the wrong diet. That is exactly how a person feels when they stop eating the diet Dr. M promotes.
When Dr. M said what he did about The China Study I realized it was time for me to leave his teachings. So now I am down to only two internet health subscriptions, The Hallelujah Health Tip and one other. But no matter what, I am positive I will stay subscribed to the Hallelujah Health Tip. Every Health Tip is filled with research, knowledge, and biblical proof. I find every bit of it of great interest. Your site is truly complete, helpful and a ‘go-to source’ for one-stop healthy lifestyle shopping information. I’m so glad that you and Rhonda share your wonderful knowledge and blessings with the world and at no cost.”

“Dr. M. is going to be very embarrassed when Dr. Campbell’s new documentary Forks Over Knives makes its debut in local theaters across America. I have previewed the documentary and it is extremely powerful and well documented. It shares the dangers of an animal-based diet and the healing power of a plant-based diet. ‘Thank you’ Dr. Campbell and Dr. Esselstyne for an incredible job in alerting the American people to the dangers of animal fat and protein. I believe multitudes will eliminate animal foods and become exclusively plant eaters after viewing this documentary.”

China Study Challenged
Oct 5th
During the past few weeks on the internet, a medical doctor we shall refer to as “Dr. M” has challenged the scientific findings in Dr. T. Colin Campbell’s book The China Study.
As a result of this challenge, I received the following letter:
“Rev. Malkmus, I really appreciate your ministry and the very informative e-letters that you put out. As a health professional, I am on several preventive health care mailing lists besides yours… You may be aware that recently Dr. M has been challenging much of what Dr. Campbell says in The China Study. I’d appreciate it if in the near future you would address the fallacies that Dr. M presents in this article. I think it may prove to be a blessing to your readers and others since I know you have great respect for Dr. Campbell. Thank you for your consideration.” William A., Associate Professor, Health and Exercise Science, [university name withheld], California
For more than 40 years, Dr. Campbell has been at the forefront of nutritional research. His legacy, The China Study, is the most comprehensive study of health and nutrition ever conducted. Dr. Campbell is Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University. He has received more than 70 grant-years of peer reviewed research funding and authored more than 300 research papers. The China Study was the culmination of a 20-year partnership of Cornell University, Oxford University and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine.
Dr. M has recently called this research into question.
“I have learned many things along this health journey. Clearly one of the major lessons is that there is enormous controversy when it comes to understanding what the human body was designed to thrive on. So my final words are to trust the body God gave you to tell you the truth.”
I am in perfect agreement with Dr. M regarding our bodies being designed by God. The Bible confirms this in Genesis 2:7.
“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
But let’s give a little biblical foundation regarding what God designed our physical bodies to be nourished with.
“And the Lord God planted a garden eastward of Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food.”
(Genesis 2:8-9)
After God created that first human He placed him in that Garden of Eden and gave him a diet.
“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed [vegetable], which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat [FOOD].
(Genesis 1:29)
The use of the word “meat” here is unfortunate as any good concordance will reveal that it should properly be translated “food.”
That pure, plant-based diet was the exclusive diet of mankind from the time God created man until the flood some 1,700 years later. (See Genesis 7) It was only after all plant foods were covered with water that God gives man permission, I believe for survival purposes, to consume the flesh of the clean animals that were on the ark. (See Genesis 9:3)
However, once man started to consume animal flesh you will find that sickness enters the human race. Lifespan drops from 912 to 110 years in just 10 generations. (See Genesis 50:26)
Dr. M: “It is sad to see that many staunch vegans and vegetarians fail to even acknowledge that anyone is designed to have animal protein.”
The Bible clearly tells us to consume a 100% plant-based diet. If God told us this, obviously there is absolutely no need for any nutrient coming from an animal.
Dr. M: “After finishing my family practice residency in 1985 I read the book Fit for Life. The book made some very compelling arguments encouraging the consumption of raw fruits and vegetables. So I started its recommendations and had fruit for breakfast. After a few weeks I tested my blood work and was shocked to find my fasting triglycerides were nearly 3,000… Clearly this diet was killing me and I am convinced I would have died long ago had I remained on it…”
Hallelujah Acres does discourage the consumption of large amounts of fruit and in some instances discourages all use of fruit. Over-consumption of fruit can develop hypoglycemic problems, weakness, extreme weight loss, and even emotional problems.
However, just because Dr. M had a problem with fruit for breakfast is not sufficient reason to condemn a 100% plant-based diet.
Dr. M: “…large numbers of sick people fail to improve when they implement vegetarian or vegan diets… If after a meal you feel sluggish, tired, nauseous, or depressed, your meal was not ideal…”
What Dr. M describes here are the symptoms of detoxification. When a person who has been consuming the cooked Standard American Diet (SAD) then adopts a plant-based diet, (including freshly extracted vegetable juices), they often “feel sluggish, tired, nauseous, and depressed.”
That doesn’t mean the diet was wrong. It signifies that the body is full of toxic build-up and waste. The body is beginning to unload these toxins into the blood system for removal. Healing cannot take place until the body has rid itself of these toxins.
Detoxification is a positive sign that the plant-based diet works. It is usually a short-lived process. After completed, their energy usually increases and physical problems start to disappear.
If they abandon the plant-based diet because they don’t feel good, detoxification will stop. This often leads people to believe that the cause of the symptoms is the plant-based diet. In reality, the symptoms are a result of body trying to push the toxins out.
Remaining on a cooked, animal-based diet causes these toxins to stay in the body only to reappear at a later time, possibly in the form of a serious illness.
Dr. M: “I strongly believe everyone should seek to consume high quality fresh, organic, and locally grown vegetables every day… Vegetarian diets described by Campbell do work for large numbers of people… I believe vegetables, and not large amounts of fruits, provide the powerhouse of nutritional benefits that will vastly improve your health.”
AMEN, I heartily agree with these statements!
Dr. M: “Many have absorbed Dr. Campbell’s writings… particularly his book The China Study, which makes a radical case against the wisdom of eating animal protein at all, by linking protein to all manner of ill health… Since this book is widely trusted and used to defend a no animal protein position I thought it was important to provide my views on why I believe this work has some fundamental flaws.
The very title of the book is inaccurate. It is NOT a study, but a comprehensive set of observations. While this approach can be valuable, it can never prove his assertion that animal protein should be avoided, as he never TESTED that theory on real live patients… The China Study was an observational study. Correlations deduced from an observational study do not – in fact, cannot – prove causation… I have sought to apply science to improve my health, and that of others for forty years.”
Science can be defined as: “a branch of knowledge or study dealing with a body of fact or truths systematically arranged and showing the operation of general laws . . . systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation…”
This definition clearly says that an observational study is scientific. But even if an observational study does not prove causation, let’s talk about the medical doctors who have used a 100% plant-based diet to restore health to thousands. Dr. Esselstyne’s work at the Cleveland Clinic surely has proven this correlation, as have those who have applied the advice of Dr. Ornish and Dr. Fuhrman.
In addition, though these testimonials are anecdotal, tens of thousands through the years have written to share with me that after adopting The Hallelujah Diet (a 100% plant-based diet containing no animal protein or fat) they have recovered from over 170 different physical problems, including even terminal, metastasized, stage 4 cancers.
Sadly, some of those who saw their cancers go into remission started adding animal protein back into their diets only to see their cancer return. They, and apparently Dr. M, clearly do not understand the devastating relationship of animal protein to cancer.
Based on more than 20 years of observational studies, Dr. Campbell wrote, “only small intakes of animal products were associated with significant increases in chronic degenerative diseases.”
Dr. M: “Nutritional typing is a way to determine what YOUR customized diet is… If after a meal, you feel sluggish, tired, nauseous, or depressed, your meal was not ideal. If you are indeed following my nutritional typing program, this will be a giant clue that you need to modify your diet.
“If your current diet allows you to function at the highest level of energy and fitness and you rarely feel hungry or crave sweets that is a fairly good sign that you are eating food appropriate for your nutritional type. One of the underlying principles of the nutritional typing program is to ‘Listen to Your Body’ and adjust your foods based on how you feel mentally and physically after consuming them.”
I’m wondering if basing what is and what is not a proper diet upon how one “feels” after a meal is considered by Dr. M to be true scientific evidence. If Dr. M’s claim that Dr. Campbell’s 20-plus years of observational study of millions of people is flawed, would not basing what is proper nutrition on how a person “feels” after eating a meal be even more flawed?
Dr. M: “Another important distinction that must be taken into account when discussing animal protein sources is the difference between raw and pasteurized dairy. When you heat a protein to the temperature required to achieve pasteurization [about 160 degrees], you denature the tertiary and quaternary structure of the protein making it essentially a new molecule.”
Because pasteurizing denatures the protein in milk, Dr. M advocates raw milk, which is the type of milk most likely consumed by those in The China Study because most lived in rural communities.
However, nature itself teaches us that once the young of any animal species is weaned, it no longer needs mother’s milk. Cow milk, whether raw or pasteurized, is one of the most dangerous foods to consume. For more on the dangers of cow milk, get the book Don’t Drink Your Milk, by Frank Oski, M.D.. In 1985, he served as Director of Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Dr. M: “Any time you cook meat at high temperatures, whether you’re grilling, frying, or broiling, some pretty dangerous chemicals are created… In order for meat to be its healthiest, it should be organic and grass fed, and it should be cooked as little as possible… You can, for example, quickly sear the meat on both sides, leaving the inside rare.
“Keep in mind that when it comes to parasites or other infections, the quality of the animal is of utmost importance. If you are consuming factory farmed animals that are fed and housed poorly, then disease-causing bacteria is certainly an issue. But infections become far less likely if you are consuming meat from appropriately fed and humanely raised animals.”
If “dangerous chemicals are created” when flesh is grilled, fried or broiled, would they not also be created if the organic grass fed flesh is only slightly cooked?
To realize that parasites and other infections are less likely is not very comforting. On a 100% plant-based diet, these concerns are totally eliminated.
Can A Plant Based Diet Provide Adequate Protein?
All animal protein originates in the grass and other plant-source foods the animal eats. If plant foods provide enough protein for large farm animals, surely they can provide adequate protein for the human body.
Most plant foods contain protein. Beans, leafy greens, seeds, and nuts are all high in protein. In fact, it would be almost impossible to design a 100% plant-based diet that was short on protein.
I have personally been on this diet for 35 years and have no indication of inadequate protein. My nails are strong, my abs are rock hard, and I am still building muscle at nearly 80 years of age.
Animal Foods Contain Artery-Clogging Fat
Last week we revealed that, after much research, former President Bill Clinton removed animal flesh and dairy from his diet. The fat build-up in his arteries necessitated a quadruple by-pass in 2004 and stents in 2010. I posted the video interview in that article.
Animal Foods Are Acidic
After digestion, most plant-sourced foods leave an alkaline ash. Animal-sourced foods leave an acid ash. This causes acid stomach problems, heartburn, arthritis, gout, and more.
When a person adopts a plant-based, alkaline diet, such as The Hallelujah Diet, they usually see their acid problems disappear, sometimes in as little as a few days. Furthermore, disease has a difficult time proliferating in an alkaline body. An acidic body provides disease with a fertile breeding ground.
The China Study Got It Right The First Time
There is so much more I could say regarding the dangers of an animal-sourced diet and the benefits of a plant-sourced diet. Hopefully we have provided enough information to generate some thought and a desire to learn more.
I strongly suggest you obtain a copy of Dr. T. Colin Campbell’s book The China Study. After reading this book you will be better able to properly evaluate Dr. M’s statements.
In 1998, we established The Hallelujah Acres Research Foundation to ensure The Hallelujah Diet had no weaknesses. The foundation is headed by Dr. Michael Donaldson, who received his PhD in Bio Chemical Engineering from Cornell University in New York. This is the same university where Dr. Campbell is Jacob Gould Schurman Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry.
Dr. Donaldson is constantly evaluating The Hallelujah Diet to ensure we advocate the most recent scientific findings, including Dr. Campbell’s research.
My mom used to say, “The proof’s in the pudding.” The Bible says: “Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.” (John 8:32)
Is Cancer a Matter of Choice?
Sep 7th
In this Health Tip we are going to attempt to help people realize that wrong diet and lifestyle are the major causes of cancer. By simply changing diet and lifestyle, most cancers can be prevented. But we are going to go even a step further by revealing that even after cancer has been initiated in the body, diet and lifestyle can play a vital role in recovery.
HOW FOOD CHOICES EFFECT CANCER
Sadly, we live in a day when many in the Christian Community believe that God governs everything that happens in their lives, including whether they get sick or remain healthy. Some even believe that their health, and even the time of their death, is totally out of their control and totally in God’s hands.
I personally reject that kind of thinking because the Bible tells in 3 John 2 that God wants us to “be in health.” (3 John 2) And in Galatians 6:7 we learn that it is what we sow that brings about most of our physical problems: “Be not deceived, God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”
Letter from a subscriber:
“Dear Rev. Malkmus: Thank you for your very detailed study and presentation of cancer growth – the maverick cells – in last week’s Health Tip. In addition, I would like to point out that The China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell really hit the nail on the head when Dr. Campbell presented the Three Stages of Cancer on pages 43-67, where he showed how animal protein will boost the promotion and progression stages of cancer; and how plant protein stunts its growth.”
Did you know that when a person enters a hospital for cancer treatment, that person is served meals that not only exacerbate the cancer, but are also the very foods that have contributed to the creation of the cancer they are in the hospital trying to recover from?
Have you ever wondered why doctors and dietitians, who have spent many years in school preparing for their vocations, are so unaware of the relationship between diet and disease?
Have you ever wondered why, when there is so much documentation showing the relationship between diet and disease, and in particular the relationship between diet and cancer, these professionals are totally in the dark regarding that relationship?
Sadly, there are forces at work in both government and our universities, trying to keep medical professionals as well as the public from realizing that there is a very real and direct relationship between diet and disease as well as diet and cancer.
SOME QUOTES FROM THE CHINA STUDY REGARDING CANCER
Following are excerpts from Chapter 3, pages 43-67 of The China Study.
“Americans dread cancer more than any other disease. Slowly and painfully being consumed by cancer for months, even years, before passing away is a terrifying prospect. This is why cancer is perhaps the most feared of the major diseases.
“So when the media reports a newly found chemical carcinogen, the public takes notice and reacts quickly. Some carcinogens cause outright panic. Such was the case a few years ago with Alar, a chemical that was routinely sprayed on apples as a growth regulator…
The public reaction was swift… [but] the Alar story is not uncommon. Over the past several decades, several chemicals have been identified in the popular press as cancer-causing agents. You may have heard of some: DDT…Nitrites… Red Dye Number 2… Artificial sweeteners… Dioxin… Aflatoxin.
“I know these unsavory chemicals quite well. I was a member of the National Academy of Sciences Expert Panel… charged with evaluating the potential danger…
“But while these chemicals are significantly different in their properties, they all have a similar story with regard to cancer. In each and every case, research has demonstrated that these chemicals may increase cancer rates in experimental animals.”
Then Dr. Campbell reports on their experiments with nitrosamines, which showed that as chemical exposure increases, incidence of cancer also increases.
“How much NSAR (Nitrosamines) did the rats get? Both groups of rats were given an incredible amount… no human studies were used to make the evaluation… Nonetheless, animal experiments alone are considered enough to conclude that NSAR is ‘reasonably anticipated’ to be a human carcinogen.”
“To summarize the story: marginal scientific results can make very big waves in the public when it comes to cancer- causing chemicals. A rise in cancer incidence from 5% to 10% in rats fed large quantities of nitrite caused an explosive controversy.”
BACK TO PROTEIN
“The point isn’t that nitrite is safe. It is the mere possibility, however unlikely it may be, that it could cause cancer that alarms the public. But what if researchers produced considerably more impressive scientific results that were far more substantial? What if there was a chemical that experimentally turned on cancer in 100% of the test animals and its relative absence limited cancer to 0% of the animals? Furthermore, what if this chemical were capable of acting in this way at routine levels of intake and not the extraordinary levels used in the NSAR experiments? Finding such a chemical would be the holy grail of cancer research. The implications for human health would be enormous. One would assume that this chemical would be of considerably more concern than nitrite and Alar, and even more significant than aflatoxin, a highly ranked carcinogen.
“This is exactly what I saw in the Indian research paper when I was in the Philippines. The chemical was protein, fed to rats at levels that are well within the range of normal consumption. Protein! These results were more than startling. In the Indian study, when all the rats had been predisposed to get liver cancer after being given aflatoxin, only the animals fed 20% protein got the cancer, while those fed 5% protein got none.”
“The question begged for answers. To further study this question, I sought and received two National Institutes of Health (NIH) research grants… One was for a human study, the other for an experimental animal study. I did not ‘cry wolf’ in either application by suggesting that PROTEIN might promote cancer. I had everything to lose and nothing to gain by acting like a heretic. Besides, I wasn’t convinced that PROTEIN actually might be harmful…
“The NIH funding for this study continued for the next nineteen years and led to additional funding from other research agencies… On these experimental animal findings alone, this project gave rise to more than 100 scientific papers published in some of the best journals, many public presentations and several invitations to participate on expert panels…
“From our extensive research, one idea seemed to be clear: Lower protein intake dramatically decreased tumor initiation. This finding, even though well substantiated, would be enormously provocative for many people…
“These experiments also demonstrated that the body could ‘remember’ early carcinogen insults, even though they might then lie dormant with low protein intake. That is, exposure to aflatoxin left a genetic ‘imprint’ that remained dormant with 5% dietary protein until… later when this imprint reawakened… with 20% dietary protein.
“In simple terms, the body holds a grudge. It suggests that if we are exposed in the past to a carcinogen that initiates a bit of cancer that remains dormant, this cancer can still be ‘reawakened’ by bad nutrition some time later. These studies showed that cancer development is modified by relatively modest changes in protein consumption.”
For years, this editor has been warning people who have seen their cancers go into remission on The Hallelujah Diet: “Don’t go back to consuming animal protein!” Why? Because I had received testimonies regarding a number of people who have seen cancers return after adding clean, organically grown animal protein (chicken, salmon, raw milk & cheese) back into their diets.
Until I read Dr Campbell’s book, I had not known why the cancers came back after adding animal protein back into their diets. With this research, I now understand why.
“Not all proteins are alike… If you have followed the story so far, you have seen how provocative these findings are. Controlling cancer through nutrition was, and still is, a radical idea. But as if this weren’t enough, one more issue would yield explosive information: did it make any difference what type of protein was used in these experiments? For all of these experiments, we were using casein, which makes up 87% of cow’s milk protein.
“So the next logical question was whether plant protein, tested in the same way, has the same effect on cancer promotion as casein. The answer is an astonishing ‘no.’ In these experiments, plant protein did not promote cancer growth, even at higher levels of intake… But the cancer-promoting factor in this case was cow’s milk protein. It was difficult enough for my colleagues to accept the idea that protein might help cancer grow, but cow’s milk protein? Was I crazy?
“The effects of protein feeding on tumor development were nothing less than spectacular. Rats generally live for about two years, thus the study was 100 weeks in length. All animals that were administered aflatoxin and fed the regular 20% levels of casein either were dead or near death from liver tumors at 100 weeks. All animals administered the same level of aflatoxin but fed the low 5% PROTEIN diet were alive, active and thrifty, with sleek coats at 100 weeks… Let there be no doubt: cow’s milk protein is an exceptionally potent cancer promoter in rats dosed with aflatoxin.
“Okay, so here’s the central question: how does this research apply to human health… can we generalize these findings to other cancers and to other carcinogens? At the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago, another research group was working with mammary (breast) cancer in rats. This research showed that increasing intakes of casein promoted the development of mammary (breast) cancer…
“An impressively consistent pattern was beginning to emerge. For two different organs, four different carcinogens and two different species, casein promotes cancer growth… What effects did other nutrients have on cancer… We initiated more studies… The results of these, and many other studies, showed nutrition to be far more important in controlling cancer promotion than the dose of the initiating carcinogen.
“Furthermore, a pattern was beginning to emerge: nutrients from animal based foods increased tumor development while nutrients from plant based foods decreased tumor development… So much consistency was stunningly impressive, but one aspect of this research demanded that we remain cautious: all this evidence was gathered in experimental animal studies… are these principles regarding animal protein and cancer critically important for all humans in all situations, or are they merely marginally important for a minority of people…
“We needed direct evidence from human research… Having the opportunity to do such a study is rare, at best, but by incredibly good luck we were given exactly the opportunity we needed… We were given the chance to do a human study that would take all of these principles we had begun to uncover in the lab to the next level. It was time to study the role of nutrition, lifestyle and disease in the most comprehensive manner ever undertaken in the history of medicine. We were on to The China Study.”
In Chapter 4 (pages 69-108) of The China Study, titled “Lessons from China,” Dr. Campbell tells how they went to China and “initiated a nationwide survey to collect information about a disease that was not well understood. It was a monumental survey of death rates for twelve different kinds of cancer for more than… 880 million of their citizens. The survey was remarkable in many ways. It involved 650,000 workers, the most ambitious biomedical research project ever undertaken.”
Then on page 107, after evaluating the diets of millions of Chinese, Dr. Campbell had this to say.
“At the end of the day, the strength and consistency of the majority of the evidence is enough to draw valid conclusions. Namely, whole plant-based foods are beneficial, and animal-based foods are not… the results of this study, in addition to a mountain of supporting research… convinced me to turn my dietary lifestyle around. I stopped eating meat fifteen years ago, and I stopped eating almost all animal-based foods, including dairy, within the past six to eight years… My family has also adopted this way of eating…”
IS THERE A BETTER WAY OF DEALING WITH CANCER?
Absolutely! And that better way is what we teach here at Hallelujah Acres. Almost every physical problem we experience, including cancer, is merely a toxic body, reacting to an improper diet and lifestyle with a weakened immune system.
We suggest that rather than further weakening the immune system with toxic chemicals, burning radiation, or by cutting out body parts with surgery, a far better approach is to stop placing toxic and dead foods that originally set the stage for cancer into the body.
Then begin placing the raw living plant foods that will rebuild the immune system into the body so it will have the ability to do what God designed it to – heal itself!

Your Amazing Self-Healing Body
Apr 30th
Dear Rev. Malkmus, Thank you for explaining God’s position as to How We Contribute to our own Physical Problems in your article in Health Tip #648.
I cured myself of ulcerative colitis by changing to a vegan diet 18 years ago. Instead of continuing to take medication prescribed by my doctor and continuing to eat cheese, I eliminated all animal foods from my diet, including dairy, and adopted a plant based diet.
Since changing my diet 18 years ago, I have had several colonoscopies and the most recent one shows that there is still no sign of what the doctor said was an ‘incurable’ disease. If I had listened to my doctor and not gotten rid of the animal products, the cause of my problem, I would be a very sick 59-year-old woman or dead today.
To understand the science behind God’s plan for our diet your readers can go to www.tcolincampbell.org. Dr. Campbell still teaches at Cornell University and has formed a foundation to educate medical and lay people alike. In an interview, he says that he comes from a family of dairy farmers, but that he just cannot deny such firm scientific evidence as he and others have uncovered. There is no doubt that dairy is one of the most dangerous things we can eat.
I look forward to future Health Tips in this series.

I am 18 years old. At age 16 while receiving allergy shots I began taking an interest in nutrition. My cousin told me about Hallelujah Acres and I began to learn lots about nutrition.
After taking out of my diet all dairy products and meats and replacing them with plant sourced foods I began to get better.
I now begin my day with raw healthy smoothies made with fresh fruit and lots of raw greens and have been able to remain off my allergy shots for two years.
Thanks Rev. Malkmus for all your wisdom and knowledge.
John J.
