Hallelujah Acres Café A Delicious Success!
Located in the Main Building at Hallelujah Acres International Headquarters here in Shelby, North Carolina, we have one of the finest dining facilities in the area.
The dining room walls have been painted with beautiful pastel colors and decorated with gorgeous tapestries. Old-time lighting fixtures dangle from the ceiling as soft Christian music provides a peaceful ambiance.
A kind and caring wait staff are there to take your order in a dining room that will seat almost 100 people. Often you can get right in, but some days there is a brief wait for a table.
Our menu is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen and contains offerings to please the most discriminating palate. Dishes include gorgeous salads, pizza (my favorite), Taco Salads and so much more. And you can end your meal with (believe it or not) desserts of cheesecake, apple pie ala mode and more – all Hallelujah Diet approved!
The Café is open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Takeout orders are available in addition to in-house dining. Learn more about the Café.
In the kitchen preparing the food we have Executive Chef Kirk Talley and his dedicated crew.
Chef Talley had 20 years in food service prior to joining us. He has served as chef in two different country clubs. Although he had no previous experience in vegetarian cuisine, he has taken to it like a duck to water and is producing some of the most taste tantalizing dishes I have ever had my palate tickled with, using mostly organic produce.
As people learn about the Hallelujah Acres Café they are traveling from further and further distances. When in town, I try to spend an hour or so in the Café each day greeting and welcoming first-timers.
Recently, I talked with a couple who had just learned about the Hallelujah Acres Café a few days before and had driven from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, a four-hour drive each way, just to have lunch and visit Hallelujah Acres for the very first time. The next day a family told me that they had driven 3 ½ hours each way to have lunch at the Café.
Here at Hallelujah Acres we also provide a separate dining room for special events and business meetings. The Chamber of Commerce, ladies groups, Church groups, and others use this room for their meetings while enjoying a delicious meal.
All our offerings are plant-based, which means there is no animal flesh or dairy contained in anything on the menu. Our cheeses are made with nuts and seeds and are absolutely delicious. You will not find refined sugar, refined grains, caffeine, or table salt in any of the offerings.
You may ask, how can anything not containing something from an animal or containing no refined sugar or table salt taste so wonderful? All I can say is “come and see for yourself!”
While you are here, be sure to visit our newly expanded and beautiful Health Foods store and take a guided tour of the Villages of Hallelujah Acres with Stuart.
I believe you will be pleasantly surprised.
HA Cafe Featured in Spartanburg Herald-Journal
Aug 10th
The following article by Gary Glancy featuring the Hallellujah Acres Café appeared in the July 25, 2010 Sunday edition of the Spartanburg (SC) Herald-Journal.
Students Learn Vegan Cooking at Hallelujah Acres
Through the years we have had many fine articles written regarding the Hallelujah Acres ministry and what we have to offer here at Hallelujah Acres, but I believe this article is one of the finest. Often an article is lacking accuracy, but I couldn’t find a single thing in this article that wasn’t right on.
This article introduced many new people, who live in northern South Carolina and southern North Carolina to Hallelujah Acres. Ever since the article appeared, we have had first time visitors in our Café almost every day. Many of them also showed up for my First Saturday-of-the-month seminar this past Saturday.
On Saturday, August 21, at 10:30 A.M., Rev. Malkmus will share his “God’s Way to Ultimate Health” seminar at the First Baptist Church of Robuck (a suburb of Spartanburg). The church is located at 3825 South Church Street Extension. For more information contact Hallelujah Acres at 800-915-9355.
Hallelujah Acres Cafe Grand Re-Opening
Feb 4th
Friday, February 12th, is going to be a HUGE day here at Hallelujah Acres as we celebrate not only the 18th anniversary of Hallelujah Acres, and the 76th birthday of Rev. Malkmus, but it will also be the day that we officially re-open the Hallelujah Acres Café.
Following a fire in May of 2009, we had to restore most of the interior of our entire main building, and this caused us to have to shut down the Café. While it was closed, we knocked down a wall to expand its size so that we now have a dining room that can handle nearly 100 diners at a time, painted the walls, and installed new ceiling tiles and light fixtures, as well as adding some beautiful wall hangings.
During the time the Café was closed, we hired a professional chef and in November unofficially opened the Café. When we did re-open the Café, the salad bar was gone and in its place was a menu that not only included various types of salads, but all kinds of incredibly delicious vegan offerings, waiters and waitresses, and even take-outs. Following are just a few of the items that were found on that menu:
Vegetarian Chili, Curried Pumpkin Soup, Asian Lo-Mein Sichuan Salad, Artichoke Salad, Marinated Portobello Burger to just mention a few, along with a nice offering of salads, desserts which included Pomegranate Cheesecake (without cheese), Sweet Potato Pie, etc., and of course individual Pizzas (the most popular item on the menu), and a number of new beverages.
Well, hopefully we have all the bugs out (they’re not allowed in a vegan restaurant anyway
), and on February 12th, we will celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of The Hallelujah Acres Café, and you are invited to join us.
Following is the Events Schedule for the day:

H.A. Cafe Opens After Seven-Month Shutdown
Dec 1st
Following a fire and severe smoke damage to our facility back in May of this year we underwent months of restoration. We were able to reopen the renovated auditorium several months ago, along with the rest of the building. However, we decided during renovation to make some huge changes in the Café which delayed its reopening.
Following are some of the improvements we have made: New ceiling and lighting, along with new flooring and walls. We have also hired a professional chef. His name is Kirk Talley and he is so excited about turning our café into a fine dining restaurant complete with menu and numerous offerings sure to please the palate of all who come to dine.
We believe our café will become one of the finest dining facilities in the country, offering not only 100% vegan foods, but many new raw entrées. Many of these raw entrées are the creation of Chef Kirk, who is so excited to be on board here at Hallelujah Acres and we are so excited to have him here to join Shay in the kitchen. Shay has been preparing the food here at Hallelujah Acres for many years and is excited about having another professional working with her.
We will have what we call the soft reopening of the Hallelujah Café and Restaurant on December 1, with the official grand reopening scheduled for February 12, 2010. That day will not only be the grand opening of the café, but will also be Hallelujah Acres 18th anniversary as well as its founder, Rev. George Malkmus’ 76th birthday.
And so we invite you to COME AND DINE! We look forward to serving you food that will not only delight your taste buds, but also be nutritious and healthy.
